Abstract
Description
本明細書によって開示される電池は、ケースと、前記ケースの内部に配置され、極板が巻回されてなる電極体と、を備え、前記電極体は、前記極板がらせん状に巻回されている。
(電池の構成)
一実施形態の電池10について、図1〜図4を参照しつつ説明する。電池10は、ニッケル・水素蓄電池等のアルカリ蓄電池である。電池10は、例えば単3形(IEC(International Electrotechnical Commission)では、「HR6」、米国では、「AA」)の容量が2300mAh以下、又は単4形(IECでは、「HR03」,米国では、「AAA」)の容量が800mAh以下の電池である。以下の説明では、図1の紙面手前側を電池10の前側(前)とし、紙面右側を電池10の右側(右)とし、紙面上側を電池10の上側(上)とする。
図4に示す通り、正極板24、負極板26および、それらの間にセパレータ25が配置され、巻回されることで電極体23が製造される。正極板24、負極板26およびセパレータ25は、帯状をなし、一方向に長い長方形状である。正極板24、負極板26およびセパレータ25は、長手方向、即ち、短辺方向の幅Hがそれぞれ等しく、左右方向、即ち、長辺方向の長さJがそれぞれ等しい。
電極体23では、正極板24および負極板26は、セパレータ25を介して互いに対向しながら、中心軸Wを中心に、らせん状に巻回されている。そして、電極体23は、電池ケース11の収容空間Sに収容される。電極体23は、らせん状に巻回されているため、電極体23の長手方向において、巻回前の正極板24、負極板26、およびセパレータ25の幅Hに比べて、正極板24、負極板26、およびセパレータ25が巻回された後の電極体23の長さPの方が長くなる。また、幅Hと長さPとは、いずれも収容空間Sの長手方向の長さVよりも短い。
本明細書で開示される技術は上記記述及び図面によって説明した実施形態に限定されるものではなく、例えば次のような種々の態様も含まれる。
Claims (6)
- ケースと、
前記ケースの内部に配置され、極板が巻回されてなる電極体と、を備え、
前記電極体は、前記極板がらせん状に巻回されている電池。 - 前記極板は、正極板と負極板とから構成され、対向した一対の前記正極板と前記負極板とがステップ状に巻回されている、請求項1に記載の電池。
- 前記電極体の前記極板の巻き終わりの端辺は、前記電極群の巻回軸に沿った方向に対して傾いている、請求項1または請求項2に記載の電池。
- 前記電極体の前記極板の巻き終わりの端辺は、前記電極群の巻回軸に沿った方向に対して平行になっている、請求項1または請求項2に記載の電池。
- 前記ケースは、蓋体を有し、
前記電極体のうち、前記巻回軸寄りの中央部分は、前記正極板で構成されており、
前記電極体のうち、前記中央部分の周囲に巻回された周囲部分は、前記負極板で構成されており、
前記中央部分は、前記周囲部分より前記蓋体に近く、
前記中央部分と前記蓋体とが接続され、前記周囲部分と前記ケースとが接続される、請求項1から請求項4のいずれか一項に記載の電池。 - 前記極板のうち、一の前記極板が水酸化ニッケルを活物質とし、
前記極板のうち、他の前記極板が水素吸蔵合金を活物質とする、請求項1から請求項5のいずれか一項に記載の電池。
