これに対し、比較例1〜5の如く、サリチル酸エステル系化合物又は安息香酸エステル系化合物、あるいは本発明の屋内ダニ忌避効力増強剤の単独では、忌避効果が乏しかった。また、屋内ダニ忌避効力増強剤として、脂肪族カルボン酸エステル化合物を用いた場合でも、酸部分とアルコール部分の炭素数の総数が14〜23の範囲を外れる比較例6及び7は、相乗効果が得られなかった。更に、屋内ダニ忌避成分としてイソボルニルチオシアノアセテートと本発明の屋内ダニ忌避効力増強剤を組合わせた組成物(比較例8及び9)においても相乗効果が認められなかった。
このように、屋内ダニ忌避成分としてサリチル酸エステル系化合物及び/又は安息香酸エステル系化合物を採用し、これと炭素数の総数が14〜23の脂肪族カルボン酸エステル化合物である本発明の屋内ダニ忌避効力増強剤を組み合わせてなる屋内ダニ忌避組成物が、特異的に相乗的な屋内ダニ忌避効力を示し、有用かつ実用的な屋内ダニ忌避方法を提供することは明らかである。
