Abstract
【解決手段】発光素子の発光層において、ホスト材料とゲスト材料に基づき得られる発光が、相対発光強度と発光時間との関係を示す際に多成分の減衰曲線を示し、かつ相対発光強度が1/100になるまでの上記減衰曲線の最も遅い成分の発光時間を、ホスト材料の消光と競合しない程度に短く(好ましくは、15μsec以下)することで、発光効率を十分に確保することができる。

Description
(但し、E0は初期発光強度、E(t)は時間(t)における発光強度、Aは定数、τは寿命、nは減衰曲線の成分数を示す。)
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様である発光素子として、発光エネルギーの高い燐光性化合物をゲスト材料として用いても、ホスト材料は、化学的に安定な状態をとることができる発光素子を構成する上での概念および具体的な発光素子の構成について説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様である発光素子の一例について図3を用いて説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様として、電荷発生層を挟んでEL層を複数有する構造の発光素子(以下、タンデム型発光素子という)について説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様である発光素子を有する発光装置について説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様である発光素子を適用して作製された発光装置を用いて完成させた様々な電子機器の一例について、図6、図7を用いて説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様である発光素子を含む発光装置を適用した照明装置の一例について、図8を用いて説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様である発光素子を用いて作製される発光装置について、図18を用いて説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様である発光素子を適用して作製された発光装置について図19を用いて説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様である発光素子を適用して作製された照明装置について図20を用いて説明する。
本実施の形態においては、本発明の一態様の発光装置と組み合わせることができるタッチセンサ、及びモジュールについて、図21乃至図24を用いて説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様である発光素子の構造について、図25を用いて説明する。
まず、ガラス製の基板1100上に酸化珪素を含む酸化インジウム−酸化スズ(ITSO)をスパッタリング法により成膜し、陽極として機能する第1の電極1101を形成した。なお、その膜厚は110nmとし、電極面積は2mm×2mmとした。
作製した発光素子1および比較発光素子2の動作特性について測定した。なお、測定は室温(25℃に保たれた雰囲気)で行った。

Claims (6)
- パルスレーザ照射後の相対発光強度と発光時間との関係は多成分の減衰曲線を示し、
かつ前記相対発光強度が1/100になるまでの前記多成分の減衰曲線の最も遅い成分の発光時間は、15μsec以下であることを特徴とする発光素子。 - 一対の電極間に少なくとも発光層を有し、
前記発光層は、2種類以上の有機化合物を有し、
発光の際に相対発光強度と発光時間との関係を示す成分は、前記相対発光強度が1/100になるまでに2成分以上あり、かつ、前記相対発光強度が1/100になるまでの最も遅い成分の発光時間は、15μsec以下であることを特徴とする発光素子。 - 一対の電極間に少なくとも発光層を有し、
前記発光層は、第1の有機化合物と第2の有機化合物とを少なくとも有し、
前記第2の有機化合物は、有機金属錯体であり、
前記第1の有機化合物のT1準位は、前記第2の有機化合物のT1準位よりも低く、
発光の際に相対発光強度と発光時間との関係を示す成分は、前記相対発光強度が1/100になるまでに2成分以上あり、かつ、前記相対発光強度が1/100になるまでの最も遅い成分の発光時間は、15μsec以下であることを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項1乃至請求項3に記載の発光素子を用いた発光装置。
- 請求項4に記載の発光装置を用いた電子機器。
- 請求項4に記載の発光装置を用いた照明装置。
