Description
いくつかの実施態様において、放射線をブロックするシールドは、人間の組織、例えば皮膚への局所適用に適した有機または無機キャリアーを含む。このようなキャリアーは、キャリアー全体に均一に分散された活性成分を含む。この活性成分は、放射線を減衰させるのに適した、大きい原子番号の元素を有する無機化合物を含む。具体的には、本シールドは、局所適用されるクリームを含み、このようなクリームとしては、これらに限定されないが、X線照射の傷害作用から人間の組織を防護するのに適したペースト、ゲル、溶液、懸濁液、または、液体が挙げられる。これらのクリームは、患者に蛍光透視法またはその他の放射線イメージングを施す際の医療的な診断および治療の間に、放射線の過剰暴露から自分自身を防護するために医療スタッフおよび患者が使用してもよい。
本発明のその他の形態、加えて様々な形態の特徴および利点は、以下に記載される説明、添付の図面および添付の請求項を考察することによって当業者にとって明らかになるであろう。
一実施態様において、活性成分は、キャリアー110と活性成分120とを含むシールド100を形成する組成物の少なくとも25質量パーセントを構成する。その他のより具体的な実施態様において、活性成分は、シールド100を形成する組成物の33〜50質量パーセントを構成する。その他の実施態様において、活性成分は、シールド100を形成する組成物の1〜20質量部を構成し、ここでこのような組成物としては、キャリアーと活性成分とを含む組成物が挙げられ、キャリアーはこのような組成物の約1質量部を構成する。その他の実施態様において、活性成分は、キャリアーと活性成分とを含む組成物の少なくとも10体積パーセントを構成する。その他の実施態様において、活性成分は、このような組成物の10〜67体積パーセントを構成する。さらにその他の実施態様において、キャリアーは、キャリアー110と活性成分120とを含む組成物の0.1〜99.9質量パーセントを構成し、ここで活性成分は、組成物の質量部からキャリアーの質量部を差し引いた残りを構成する。これらの実施態様それぞれにおいて、活性成分は、放射線暴露から十分に防護する放射線減衰能力を有する。手および指の器用さを保ち、手および指の触覚を維持しながら、所定の防護レベルが達成される。そのようなものとして、臨床技術の実行を妨げたり、このような臨床技術の結果に悪影響を与えたりすることなく、所定の防護レベルが達成される。
本発明の放射線不透過性フィルム10の放射線不透過層40は、電離放射線を減衰する材料、または、放射線不透過性材料を含む。いくつかの実施態様において、放射線不透過層40の放射線不透過性材料は、微粒子状でもよいし、または、粉末化した形態でもよい。このような実施態様において、放射線不透過層40は、放射線不透過性材料の粒子をまとめる結合剤を含んでいてもよい。
ポリエチレンテレフタラート(PET)フィルム上に酸化ビスマスを堆積させることによって放射線不透過性フィルムの数種のサンプルを形成し、ここでこのようなフィルムとしては、例えばE.I.デュポン・ド・ヌムール・アンド・カンパニー(E. I. du Pont Nemours & Co, デラウェア州ウィルミントン)からマイラー(MYLAR(R))という商標名で市販されているものがある。PETフィルムを5cm×5cmの寸法になるように横方向に切断した。酸化ビスマスをPVB結合剤とブレンドしたところ、80%酸化ビスマスを含み、その残りとしてPEG結合剤、グリセリン、カプリン酸トリグリセリド、セチルアルコールおよびステアリン酸グリセリルを含む混合物が得られた。続いてこの混合物を水に懸濁して、約80w/w%の固体含量を含むスラリーを形成した。
第二の研究において、放射線不透過性フィルム10のX線照射を減衰する能力(図4)を、3種のその他の材料の減衰能力と比較し、ここでこの3種のその他の材料は、参照としての鉛箔;鉛シールドからの放射線不透過層(これは、0.5mmの鉛に相当する減衰を有するものとして評価される);および、鉛非含有のシールドからの放射線不透過層(これも、0.5mmの鉛に相当する減衰を有するものとして評価される)である。これらの製品を同じエネルギーのX線に同じ時間暴露した。

Claims (34)
- 電離放射線を減衰させるための組成物であって:
キャリアー;および、
キャリアー全体に均一に分散され、電離放射線を減衰させるのに適した非毒性の物質を含む活性成分、
を含む、上記組成物。 - 前記非毒性の物質は、原子番号が50以上である原子種を少なくとも1種含む、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記活性成分は、ビスマス種、バリウム種、および、ランタン種のうち少なくとも1種を含む、請求項2に記載の組成物。
- 前記活性成分は、少なくとも1種の原子種の無機塩、および、少なくとも1種の酸化種の酸化された形態のうち少なくとも1種を含む、請求項2または3に記載の組成物。
- 揺変性を有する、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 皮膚の上に柔軟なフィルムが形成されるように作製された、請求項1、2、3または5のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- 前記キャリアーは、局所適用に適したクリーム、局所適用に適したアルコールベースのゲル、噴霧できるように作製された液体、および、粉末のうちの少なくとも1種を含む有機キャリアーを含む、請求項1、2、3または5のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- 1質量部〜20質量部の前記活性成分、および、約1質量部のキャリアー;
5.5質量部〜8質量部の前記活性成分、および、約1質量部のキャリアー;
少なくとも25質量%の前記活性成分;
33%〜50質量%の前記活性成分;
少なくとも10体積%の前記活性成分;または、
10%〜67体積%の前記活性成分、
を含む、請求項1に記載の組成物。 - 第一のポリマー層;
第二のポリマー層;および、
第一のポリマー層と第二のポリマー層との間の放射線不透過層、
を含み、ここで該放射線不透過層は、請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の組成物を含み、少なくとも約50質量%の前記放射線不透過性材料を含む、放射線不透過性フィルム。 - 前記放射線不透過層のキャリアーは、隣接する活性成分の粒子をまとめるための結合剤を含む、請求項9に記載の放射線不透過性フィルム。
- 前記結合剤は、最大で前記組成物の約50質量%を構成する、請求項10に記載の放射線不透過性フィルム。
- 前記結合剤は、ポリマーを含む、請求項10に記載の放射線不透過性フィルム。
- 前記組成物の密度は、約11グラム/cm3未満である、請求項9に記載の放射線不透過性フィルム。
- 前記放射線不透過層は、約0.5mmまたはそれ未満の厚さ、0.38mmまたはそれ未満の厚さ、または、約0.25mmまたはそれ未満の厚さを有する、請求項9〜13のいずれか一項に記載の放射線不透過性フィルム。
- 第一のポリマー層に隣接する基板をさらに含む、請求項9〜13のいずれか一項に記載のに記載の放射線不透過性フィルム。
- 前記基板は、紙または紙様の材料を含む、請求項15に記載の放射線不透過性フィルム。
- 少なくとも放射線不透過層を貫通する放射線透過性のウィンドウをさらに含む、請求項9〜13のいずれか一項に記載のに記載の放射線不透過性フィルム。
- 前記放射線透過性のウィンドウは、第一のポリマー層、放射線不透過層および第二のポリマー層を貫通する開口部を含む、請求項17に記載の放射線不透過性フィルム。
- 前記放射線不透過層は、複数のサブレイヤーを含む、請求項9〜13のいずれか一項に記載のに記載の放射線不透過性フィルム。
- 前記放射線不透過層の複数のサブレイヤーのうち少なくとも1つのサブレイヤーと、前記放射線不透過層の複数のサブレイヤーのうちそれと隣接するサブレイヤーとが、異なる放射線不透過性材料を含む、請求項19に記載の放射線不透過性フィルム。
- 前記少なくとも1つのサブレイヤーは、それと隣接するサブレイヤーに比べて電離放射線源に近い位置に配置されるように設計され;および、
前記少なくとも1つのサブレイヤーの放射線不透過性材料は、それと隣接するサブレイヤーの異なる放射線不透過性材料のベースとなるその他の元素の原子番号よりも小さい原子番号を有する元素をベースとする、請求項20に記載の放射線不透過性フィルム。 - 前記放射線不透過層の複数のサブレイヤーのうち少なくとも1つのサブレイヤーと、前記放射線不透過層の複数のサブレイヤーのうちそれと隣接するサブレイヤーとが、それぞれ異なるように電離放射線を減衰する、請求項19〜21のいずれか一項に記載のに記載の放射線不透過性フィルム。
- 前記少なくとも1つのサブレイヤーは、それと隣接するサブレイヤーの第二の放射線不透過性材料のベースとなる第二の元素の原子番号よりも大きい原子番号を有する第一の元素をベースとする第一の放射線不透過性材料を含む、請求項22に記載の放射線不透過性フィルム。
- 前記少なくとも1つのサブレイヤーは、それと隣接するサブレイヤーに比べて第二のポリマー層に近い位置に配置され、さらに:
第一のポリマー層に隣接する基板を含み、ここで該基板は、放射線源に面するように設計される、請求項23に記載の放射線不透過性フィルム。 - 複数のサブレイヤーの隣接するサブレイヤー間に存在するバリア、
をさらに含む、請求項19〜24のいずれか一項に記載の放射線不透過性フィルム。 - 請求項9〜25のいずれか一項に記載の放射線不透過性フィルムの製造方法であって、該方法は:
第一のポリマー層の表面上に放射線不透過性材料を堆積させること;
放射線不透過性材料に第二のポリマー層を堆積させること;および、
第二のポリマー層を第一のポリマー層に固定して、第一のポリマー層と第二のポリマー層との間に放射線不透過性材料を固定すること、
を含む、上記方法。 - 第一のポリマー層の表面上の前記放射線不透過性材料に、別の放射線不透過性材料を堆積させること、
をさらに含む、請求項26に記載の方法。 - 前記別の放射線不透過性材料を堆積させる前に、前記放射線不透過性材料にバリアを適用すること、
をさらに含む、請求項27に記載の方法。 - 前記放射線不透過性材料を堆積させることは、第一のポリマー層の表面上に前記放射線不透過性材料を印刷することを含む、請求項26に記載の方法。
- 前記固定は、第一のポリマー層と第二のポリマー層とを接着によって互いに固定することを含む、請求項26に記載の方法。
- 前記固定は、第一のポリマー層と第二のポリマー層とを互いに熱接着することを含む、請求項26に記載の方法。
- 前記熱接着は、第一のポリマー層と第二のポリマー層との間の物質を、第一のポリマー層と第二のポリマー層に熱接着することを含む、請求項31に記載の方法。
- イメージングシステムであって、該システムは:
放射線照射野に放射線を放出する放射線源;
放射線照射野内に配置された標的の試料;
放射線照射野内に配置された標的ではない体の部分(ここで該体の部分は、標的の試料が画像化される間に放射線に過剰暴露される危険性がある);および、
標的ではない体の部分を覆う放射線シールド、
を含み、ここで放射線シールドは、少なくとも請求項1〜8のいずれか一項に記載の組成物および請求項9〜25のいずれか一項に記載の放射線不透過性フィルムのいずれか1種を含み、電離放射線を減衰するように設計されたものである、上記イメージングシステム。 - イメージング方法であって、該方法は:
請求項1〜8のいずれか一項に記載の組成物および請求項9〜25のいずれか一項に記載の放射線不透過性フィルムのうち少なくとも1種を含む放射線シールドで、電離放射線に過剰暴露される危険性がある体の部分の少なくとも一部を覆うこと;
放射線照射野に電離放射線を放出させること;
放射線照射野内の試料を画像化すること;および、
放射線シールドで電離放射線を減衰させること、
を含む、上記方法。
