Description
すなわち、本発明は、液晶パネルと、前記液晶パネルの後方に配置される拡散板と、前記拡散板の後方に配置される導光材と、前記液晶パネルと前記拡散板と前記導光材とを支持する筐体とを備え、前記筐体は後部に開口部を有し、前記導光材は前記開口部を覆って配置され、前記導光材は、上方からの外光が入射する第1入射面と、前記第1入射面の下方に配置され、前記第1入射面から入射した光を反射し、かつ、後方からの外光が入射する第1斜面とを有する第1プリズムを備える液晶表示装置である。
図1に示すように、液晶表示装置1は、液晶パネル2と、液晶パネル2の後方からの光を拡散する拡散板3と、拡散板3の後方から外光を導光する導光材4と、液晶パネル2、拡散板3および導光材4を支持する筐体5とを備える。
図3および図4を参照して導光材4の構成を説明する。図3は、導光材の構成を示す斜視図であり、図4は導光材の1つのプリズムに入射する光の進路を示す説明図である。導光材4には、縦断面が直角三角形のプリズム7が縦方向に複数個配列されている。プリズム7は、上方向からの光が入射される入射面8と、入射面8から入射した光を反射し、かつ、後方からの光が入射される斜面9と、斜面9において入射または反射した光がプリズム7から出射する出射面10とを備える。プリズム7は本発明における第1プリズムに相当し、入射面8は本発明における第1入射面に相当し、斜面9は本発明における第1斜面に相当し、出射面10は本発明における第1出射面に相当する。

- 液晶パネルと、
前記液晶パネルの後方に配置される拡散板と、
前記拡散板の後方に配置される導光材と、
前記液晶パネルと前記拡散板と前記導光材とを支持する筐体とを備え、
前記筐体は後部に開口部を有し、
前記導光材は前記開口部を覆って配置され、
前記導光材は、上方からの外光が入射する第1入射面と、前記第1入射面の下方に配置され、前記第1入射面から入射した光を反射し、かつ、後方からの外光が入射する第1斜面とを有する第1プリズムを備える
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記開口部は前記液晶パネルの表示領域以上の大きさである
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1または2に記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記第1プリズムは、前記第1入射面と、前記第1斜面と、光が出射する第1出射面とを有する三角プリズムであり、
前記第1入射面と前記第1斜面とで形成される頂角が前記第1出射面より後方に配置され、
前記第1出射面は前記液晶パネルの表示面に対して平行である
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1から3のいずれか1つに記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記導光材には前記第1プリズムが高さ方向に複数個配列されている
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1から4のいずれか1つに記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記導光材は、前記第1プリズムよりも前方に配置される第2プリズムを備え、
前記第2プリズムは、前記第1出射面と後方視で重なる第2入射面と、前記第2入射面よりも前方に配置され、前記第2入射面から入射した光が反射または透過する第2斜面とを有する
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項5に記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記第2プリズムは、前記第2入射面と、前記第2斜面と、光が出射する第2出射面とを有する三角プリズムであり、
前記第2入射面は前記液晶パネルの表示面に対して平行である
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項5または6に記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記導光材には前記第2プリズムが高さ方向に複数個配列されている
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1から7のいずれか1つに記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記第1入射面と前記第1斜面との角度が前記第1プリズムの臨界角以上90度未満である
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1から8のいずれか1つに記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記第1プリズムと前記第2プリズムとは同じ材質である
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項9に記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記第1斜面と前記第2斜面との角度が(180°−2×前記第1プリズムの臨界角)である
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項5から10のいずれか1つに記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記第1プリズムと前記第2プリズムとが一体形成されている
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項5から10のいずれか1つに記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記第1プリズムの前記第1出射面と前記第2プリズムの前記第2入射面とはシートを介して配置されている
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1から12のいずれか1つに記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記導光材と前記拡散板との間の下部に光源を備える
