Abstract
【解決手段】表示装置は、液晶層303と、アレイ基板301と、対向基板302と、を有している。液晶層303は、電圧の印加によって屈折率分布を変化させる。アレイ基板301には、複数の配向制御電極402が形成されている。対向基板302には、それぞれの配向制御電極402と対向するように複数の対向電極404が形成されている。隣接する配向制御電極402の間及び隣接する対向電極404の間の距離及び電位差は、配向制御電極402間又は対向電極404間で屈折率変化を生じさせないように設定されている。

Description
図1は、実施形態の表示装置の正面図である。図1に示す表示装置10は、表示領域100が設定されている。表示領域100は、画像が表示される領域である。また、実施形態の表示装置10は、部分3次元表示が可能な表示装置であって、図1に示すように表示領域100に、2次元/3次元切替可能表示領域(以下、選択表示領域という)101と、2次元/3次元切替不能表示領域(以下、固定表示領域という)102と、がそれぞれ設定されている。

なお、式1中のΔVは許容される電位差、pは対向電極間の距離(μm)、0.0125と1.25は表1の測定結果に基づいて導き出された係数、nは仕様変更等に対応させるための補正値(0を含む)を表わす。
Claims (4)
- 2次元もしくは3次元表示を行う第1の表示領域と、前記第1の表示領域に表示される表示形態とは異なる形態の表示を行う第2の表示領域を有する表示領域を備えた表示パネルと、
前記表示パネルの表面に配置され前記3次元表示に対応して液晶レンズを形成する液晶レンズユニットと、
から構成される表示装置であって、
前記液晶レンズユニットは、対向する第1の基板と第2の基板間に配置され駆動電圧の印加によって屈折率分布を変化させる液晶層とを含み、
前記第1の基板は、前記表示領域に対応して形成され、前記液晶層の配向を制御する複数の第1の電極を有し、
前記第2の基板は、前記液晶層を介して前記第1の電極と対向するように形成された第2の電極を有し、
前記第1の表示領域と前記第2の表示領域との境界部分を挟んで隣接する少なくとも前記第2の電極間の距離と電位差との関係が、前記表示領域のいずれかに3次元表示を行わせるために形成される液晶レンズの形態とは異なるレンズの発生を抑えるように設定されていることを特徴とする表示装置。 - 前記境界部分を挟んで隣接する第2の電極間の距離を増加させる場合には、当該第2の電極間の電位差を減少させ、当該第2の電極間の電位差を増加させる場合には、当該第2の電極間の距離を減少させるように、当該第2の電極間の距離と電位差との間に相関関係が設定されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記境界部分を挟んで隣接する第2の電極間の距離と電位差との関係を、距離をp(μm)とし、電位差をΔV(V)とし、補正値をnとしたときに、当該第2の電極間の距離と電位差との関係が、以下の式にほぼ従って設定されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。
ΔV≦0.0125×p+1.25+n - 前記境界部分を挟んで隣接する第2の電極間の許容最大屈折率変化値を−0.01に設定した場合に、当該第2の電極間の距離をd(μm)とし、当該第2の電極間の電位差をΔV(V)としたときに、当該第2の電極間の距離と電位差との関係が、以下の式にほぼ従って設定されることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の表示装置。
