Abstract
【解決手段】有機EL層を挟む下部電極および上部電極が、光透過導電膜および光反射導電膜を有する構造とする。下部電極の光透過導電膜と上部電極の光反射導電膜に挟まれた領域の有機EL層からの発光は、選択的に下部電極側に放出される。また、下部電極の光反射導電膜と上部電極の光透過導電膜に挟まれた領域の有機EL層からの発光は、選択的に上部電極側に放出される。そして、下部電極側に放出される光を第1の光学構造体を用いて、上部電極側に放出される光を第2の光学構造体で用いて外部に取り出す。第1の光学構造体と第2の光学構造体は異なる面に設置されており重畳した状態に設置することができるため、有機EL層から放出される光を効率よく外部に取り出すことができる。

Description
本実施の形態では、開示する発明の一態様に係る発光装置の作製方法について、図1乃至図4を用いて説明する。
図2は、本実施の形態の発光装置150の装置全体の上面概略図である。なお、図2は明瞭化のため、一部の構成要素を記載していない。図1は、図2の点線四角X部分についての構造を拡大して示した図である。図1(A)は、第2の光学構造体120側(図1(C)の白矢印N側)から発光装置150の一部を見た平面概略図であり、図1(B)は第1の光学構造体104側(図1(C)の白矢印M側)から発光装置150の一部を見た平面概略図である。また、図1(C)は、図2の一点鎖線A−B部分及びC−D部分、ならびに図1(A)及び図1(B)の一点鎖線部E−F部分の断面概略図である。なお、図1(B)は図1(A)に記載された範囲と同じ範囲を裏面側(つまり、第2の光学構造体120側)から見た図であり、図1(A)及び図1(B)のMで示される第2の発光領域132は同じ場所であり、図1(A)及び図1(B)のNで示される第1の発光領域130は同じ場所である。
発光装置150の作製方法について、図3及び図4を用いて以下の文章にて説明する。
上記工程により作製された発光装置150では、第1の発光領域130での発光は第2の光反射導電膜114の効果により、第1の基板102に向かって選択的に放出され、第1の光学構造体104により外部に取り出される。また、第2の発光領域132での発光は、第1の光反射導電膜108の効果により、第2の基板118に向かって選択的に放出され、第2の光学構造体120により外部に取り出される。
本実施の形態では、実施の形態1にて作製した発光装置の構造において、第1の光反射導電膜108及び第2の光反射導電膜114の形状が異なる構造について、図5乃至図6を用いて説明する。なお、第1の光反射導電膜108および第2の光反射導電膜114の形状が異なった場合においても装置全体の上面概略図には変更箇所が反映されないため、装置全体の上面概略図は図2を用いて説明する。また、以下に説明する発明の構成において、実施の形態1と同一部分又は同様な機能を有する部分には同一の符号を異なる図面間で共通して用い、その繰り返しの説明は省略する。
図5は図2の点線四角X部分についての構成を抽出して示した図であり、図5(A)は、第2の光学構造体120側から発光装置650の一部を見た平面概略図であり、図5(B)は第1の光学構造体104側から発光装置650の一部を見た平面概略図である。また、図5(C)は、図2の一点鎖線A−B部分及びC−D部分、ならびに図5(A)及び図5(B)の一点鎖線部G−H部分及びI−J部分の断面概略図である。なお、図5(B)は図5(A)に記載された範囲と同じ範囲を裏面側(つまり、第1の光学構造体104側)から見た図であり、図5(A)及び図5(B)のMで示される第1の発光領域130は同じ場所であり、図5(A)及び図5(B)のNで示される第2の発光領域132は同じ場所である。
発光装置650の作製方法について、図6を用いて以下の文章にて説明する。
上記工程により作製された発光装置650では、実施の形態1に記載した効果に加え、第1の光反射導電膜108が基板面内に線状に引き回されているため、第1の電極109の抵抗値を大きく低減できる。また、第2の光反射導電膜114が基板面内に線状に引き回されているため、第2の電極117の抵抗値を大きく低減できる。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様に適用できるEL層の一例について、図7を用いて説明する。
本明細書に開示する発光装置は、照明機器や電子機器に適用することができる。一例として、図9にて本明細書に開示する発光装置を天井や壁に貼り付けて用いた場合について説明する。

Claims (5)
- 第1の電極と第2の電極の間に発光性の有機化合物を含む有機EL層が設けられた構造を一方の面に備え、他方の面に第1の光学構造体を備える第1の基板と、
一方の面が前記第1の基板の一方の面と対向し、他方の面に第2の光学構造体を備える第2の基板と、を有し、
前記第1の電極は前記第1の基板と前記第2の電極の間に位置し、
前記第1の電極は第1の光透過導電膜および第1の光反射導電膜を有し、
前記第2の電極は第2の光透過導電膜および第2の光反射導電膜を有し、
前記有機EL層は、前記第1の光透過導電膜と前記第2の光反射導電膜に接して挟まれた第1の発光領域と、前記第1の光反射導電膜と前記第2の光透過導電膜に接して挟まれた第2の発光領域を有し、
前記第1の光学構造体は、前記第1の発光領域と重畳し、且つ前記第1の光学構造体の端部より前記第1の発光領域の端部が内側に位置し、
前記第2の光学構造体は、前記第2の発光領域と重畳し、且つ前記第2の光学構造体の端部より前記第2の発光領域の端部が内側に位置することを特徴とする発光装置。 - 前記第2の発光領域が前記第1の発光領域と重ならない場所に位置する、請求項1に記載の発光装置。
- 前記第1の光透過導電膜および前記第2の光透過導電膜は、400nm以上700nm以下の波長の光に対して70%以上の光透過率を有し、
前記第1の光反射導電膜および前記第2の光反射導電膜は、400nm以上700nm以下の波長の光に対して50%以上の光反射率を有する、請求項1または請求項2に記載の発光装置。 - 前記第1の光反射導電膜または前記第2の光反射導電膜のうち少なくともいずれかが線状に形成された構造である、請求項1乃至請求項3のいずれか一項に記載の発光装置。
- 前記第1の光学構造体の径が、前記第1の光学構造体と重畳する前記第1の発光領域の径に対して1.1倍以上3倍以下であり、
前記第2の光学構造体の径が、前記第2の光学構造体と重畳する前記第2の発光領域の径に対して1.1倍以上3倍以下である、請求項2乃至請求項4のいずれか一項に記載の発光装置。
