Description
本発明によればさらに、着色マルチフィラメント超高分子量ポリオレフィンヤーンを製造する方法が提供され、該製造方法は、複数の実質的に不撚のマルチフィラメント超高分子量ポリオレフィンヤーンを供給する工程;実質的に不撚のマルチフィラメントヤーンを、熱可塑性樹脂キャリヤー中に混合した着色剤を含むコーティング組成物で被覆する工程、ここで該熱可塑性樹脂は、マルチフィラメントヤーンのフィラメントより低い融点を有し、該コーティング組成物が、マルチフィラメントヤーンのフィラメントに接着する;及び、マルチフィラメントヤーンのフィラメントを融合させることなくマルチフィラメントヤーンを延伸しながらマルチフィラメントヤーンを加熱する工程;を含み、これにより改良された耐変色性を有する着色マルチフィラメントヤーンが製造される。
延伸オーブンの温度は、マルチフィラメントヤーンの最終用途特性に応じて変動し得る。いずれにしても、温度は、マルチフィラメントヤーンの隣接フィラメントの融合を回避するように選択される。
マルチフィラメント伸び切り鎖ポリエチレンヤーンからマルチフィラメント着色被覆ヤーンを製造した。各ヤーンは、スペクトラ900繊維(ハネウェル・インターナショナル社から入手可能)から製造した。被覆されていないフィーダーヤーンのデニールは1200であり、各ヤーンは120のフィラメントを含んでいた。フィーダーヤーンのテナシティは30g/dであり、極限伸びは3.9%であり、モジュラスは850g/dであった。緑色色素顔料(銅フタロシアニンをベースとする、ポリエチレン熱可塑性樹脂中に分散)の水溶液を含有するコーティング浴中に、撚り数が実質的にゼロのマルチフィラメントヤーンを供給した。コーティング溶液の固形分は約40重量%であった。ヤーン上へのコーティングの含浸量は、マルチフィラメントヤーンの総重量を基準として約15%であった。ヤーンは、熱風オーブン中で乾燥した。このコーティングプロセスの後、各被覆ヤーンのデニールは1369であり、各ヤーン中に120のフィラメントを含んでいた。このヤーンの極限伸びは4.38%であり、テナシティは27.6g/dであり、モジュラスは775g/dであった。
マルチフィラメントヤーンの耐変色性は、六角形の断面を有する金属棒に当てて摩耗させることによって試験した〔ヘックスバー(Hex Bar)耐摩耗性試験〕。ヤーンは、100gの張力下での2,500サイクル後でも、その初期の緑色を保持することが見出された。
フィーダーヤーンがスペクトラ900(650デニールのヤーン)であること以外は、実施例1の手順を繰り返した。フィーダーヤーンは60フィラメントを有し、テナシティは30.5g/dであり、極限伸びは3.6%であり、モジュラスは920g/dであった。コーティングプロセス後、各被覆ヤーンのデニールは795であり、60フィラメントを有した。このヤーンの極限伸びは4.3%であり、テナシティは27.1g/dであり、モジュラスは772g/dであった。
Claims (10)
- 着色マルチフィラメント超高分子量ポリオレフィンヤーンの製造方法であって、
少なくとも1つの実質的に不撚のマルチフィラメント超高分子量ポリオレフィンヤーンを供給する工程;
実質的に不撚のマルチフィラメントヤーンを、熱可塑性樹脂キャリヤー中に混合した着色剤を含むコーティング組成物で被覆する工程、ここで該熱可塑性樹脂は、該マルチフィラメントヤーンのフィラメントより低い融点を有し、該コーティング組成物が、マルチフィラメントヤーンのフィラメントに接着する;及び、
マルチフィラメントヤーンのフィラメントを融合させることなく該ヤーンを延伸しながら、該マルチフィラメントヤーンを加熱する工程;
を含み、これにより改良された耐変色性を有する着色マルチフィラメントヤーンが製造される、上記製造方法。 - 前記マルチフィラメントヤーンが高テナシティポリエチレンフィラメントを含む、請求項1に記載の製造方法。
- 前記熱可塑性樹脂がポリオレフィン樹脂を含む、請求項1に記載の製造方法。
- 前記マルチフィラメントヤーンが、前記加熱・延伸工程の前において実質的に不撚である、請求項1に記載の製造方法。
- 前記マルチフィラメントヤーンが、前記製造方法の工程全体にわたって実質的に不撚である、請求項1に記載の製造方法。
- 前記供給工程が、複数の前記実質的に不撚のマルチフィラメント超高分子量ポリオレフィンヤーンを供給することを含む、請求項1に記載の製造方法。
- 前記被覆ヤーンを約1.1〜約1.8の延伸比になるように延伸する、請求項7に記載の製造方法。
- 前記被覆ヤーンを約2〜約10の延伸比になるように延伸する、請求項7に記載の製造方法。
- 前記着色マルチフィラメントヤーンをさらに物品に加工し、該物品を加熱して、これにより前記熱可塑性樹脂を少なくとも軟化させて、該物品上に着色表面コーティングを形成する工程をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の製造方法。
- 前記物品がロープを含む、請求項9に記載の製造方法。
