Abstract
【解決手段】炭素担体、電解質ポリマー、金属前躯体、アルコール系溶媒、水を含む触媒層形成用組成物を調製する工程と、触媒層形成用組成物を炭素電極基材に塗布する工程と、炭素電極基材に電子線を照射する工程を含むことを特徴とする。

Description
<触媒層形成用組成物の調製>
本発明の第1工程では、少なくとも炭素担体、電解質ポリマー、金属前躯体、アルコール系溶媒、水を含む触媒層形成用組成物の調製をおこなう。
成分を添加することができる。
<塗布工程>
本発明の第2工程では、前記炭素電極基材の片面に調製した触媒層形成用組成物を均一に塗布する。
<電子線還元工程>
本発明の第3工程では、炭素電極基材上に塗布した触媒層形成用組成物中の金属前駆体を電子線の照射により金属に還元させて析出させると共に、炭素担体の表面に担持させる。
<製造プロセス>
本発明の、高分子形燃料電池電極の製造方法において、電子線照射による金属微粒子の還元反応を短時間でおこない、制御可能としたことにより、一連の製造プロセスを1つのラインでおこなうことが可能となった。
<膜電極接合体>
以下に、上記の本発明の方法により作成した電極を用いた膜電極接合体について図2を用いて詳しく説明する。
<燃料電池>
燃料電池について図1に沿って詳しく説明する。
炭素担体:カーボンブラック(カボット・コーポレイテッド社製VULCAN(登録商標)XC‐72)
多層カーボンナノチューブ(シグマアルドリッチ社製)
白金担持カーボンブラック(田中貴金属工業株式会社製、TEC10E50E、白金含有量50%)
電解質ポリマー:5%nafion(登録商標)(デュポン社製)
金属前駆体:白金前駆体 塩化白金酸錯体(H2PtC16・6H20、分子量517.9、白金原子含有量37.5%)
アルコール系溶媒:2−プロピルアルコール
高分子電解膜:nafion212(登録商標)(デュポン社)

次に、80℃、24時間乾燥して、炭素電極基材表面に触媒層を形成して電極を得た。
<測定及び評価>
上記の実施例及び、比較例の各条件で得られた電極の触媒層を、電子透過顕微鏡(TEM)写真により観察し、白金微粒子の平均サイズ求めた。
また、0.2A/cm2の電流密度における電圧の値を表1に示す。

Claims (16)
- 炭素担体、電解質ポリマー、金属前躯体、アルコール系溶媒、水を含む触媒層形成用組成物を調製する工程と、触媒層形成用組成物を炭素電極基材に塗布する工程と、炭素電極基材に塗布した触媒層形成用組成物に電子線を照射する工程を含むことを特徴とする高分子形燃料電池用電極の製造方法。
- 炭素担体が、カーボンブラック、黒鉛、グラファイト、活性炭、またはカーボンナノチューブ、カーボンナノファイバー、カーボンナノワイヤー、カーボンナノホーン、及び気相成長炭素繊維からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種の炭素材料を含む炭素担体であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の高分子形燃料電池用電極の製造方法。
- 電解質ポリマーが、少なくとも、スルホン酸基、ナトリウムスルホン酸基、カリウムスルホン酸基のいずれかを有する高分子樹脂であることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の高分子形燃料電池用電極の製造方法。
- 電解質ポリマーが、少なくとも、パーフルオロスルホン酸系のフッ素イオン交換樹脂、スルホン酸基を有する芳香族炭化水素高分子電解質のいずれかであることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の高分子形燃料電池用電極の製造方法。
- アルコール系溶媒が、メタノール、エタノール、1−プロピルアルコール、2−プロピルアルコールからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種のアルコールであることを特徴とする請求項1から4のいずれかに記載の高分子形燃料電池用電極の製造方法。
- 金属前躯体が、白金、ルテニウム、オスミウム、パラジウム、金からなる群より選ばれた少なくとも1種の金属原子を含む化合物であることを特徴とする請求項1から5のいずれかに記載の高分子形燃料電池用電極の製造方法。
- 触媒層形成用組成物が約0.1パスカル秒以上の粘度を有することを特徴とする請求項1から6のいずれかに記載の高分子形燃料電池用電極の製造方法。
- 炭素電極基材が、電子導電性及びガス拡散性を有するカーボンペーパーまたはカーボンクロースであることを特徴とする請求項1から7のいずれかに記載の高分子形燃料電池用電極の製造方法。
- 炭素電極基材が50〜500μmの厚さを有することを特徴とする請求項1から8のいずれかに記載の高分子形燃料電池用電極の製造方法。
- 電子線の照射線量が3〜300kGyであることを特徴とする請求項1から9のいずれかに記載の高分子形燃料電池用電極の製造方法。
- 炭素電極基材に形成された触媒層が、5〜100μmの厚さを有するものであることを特徴とする請求項1から10のいずれかに記載の高分子形燃料電池用電極の高分子形燃料電池用製造方法。
- 炭素電極基材に形成された触媒層に含まれる金属微粒子の単位面積当りの含有量が0.05〜5.0mg/cm2であることを特徴とする請求項1から11のいずれかに記載の高分子形燃料電池用電極の製造方法。
- 請求項1から12のいずれかに記載の高分子形燃料電池用電極の製造方法で製造した高分子形燃料電池用電極。
- 請求項13に記載の高分子形燃料電池用電極を含むことを特徴とする膜電極接合体。
- 請求項13に記載の高分子形燃料電池用電極を含むことを特徴とする高分子形燃料電池。
- 請求項13に記載の高分子形燃料電池用電極を含むことを特徴とする水電解システム、ハロゲン化水素酸電解システム、食塩電解システム。
