Description

Claims (24)
- 複数の荷電粒子検出器を有する宇宙線生成荷電粒子追跡器を備え、前記荷電粒子検出器は、走査される容積体を通過する入射荷電粒子及び出射荷電粒子の追跡、並びにガンマ線検出の両方が可能となるように配置されたドリフトセルを備え、使用時に、前記荷電粒子の多重散乱から、前記容積体に収容されている物質又は装置を選択に検出すると共に、前記容積体に収容されている放射線源から放射されるガンマ線から、前記容積体に収容されている放射線源を検出する監視システム。
- 前記ドリフトセルは、断面が円形又は非円形のドリフトチューブ、又は非チューブ状セルを含む請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記ドリフトセルは、密封されたドリフトセルを含む請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記ドリフトセルの作動ガスは、不燃性ガスを含む請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記ドリフトセルは、前記容積体の上方に位置するドリフトチューブの一方のセットと、前記容積体の下方に位置するドリフトチューブの他方のセットとを含み、前記ドリフトチューブの各セットは、第1の方向に配置された少なくとも3つのドリフトチューブと、第2の方向に配置された他の少なくとも3つのドリフトチューブとを有する請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記第1の方向は、前記第2の方向に略直交する請求項5に記載のシステム。
- 前記荷電粒子は、ミューオンを含む請求項6に記載のシステム。
- 前記ドリフトセルは、第1の方向の少なくとも3つの荷電粒子位置測定及び前記第1の方向と異なる第2の方向の少なくとも3つの荷電粒子位置測定が可能となるように配置されている請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 当該システム内に配置されたガンマ線又は中性子源を更に備え、前記容積体に収容されている物質の能動的反応測定を実現する請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 複数のミューオン検出器を有する宇宙線生成ミューオントモグラフィシステムを備え、前記ミューオン検出器は、入射ミューオン及び出射ミューオンの追跡、並びにガンマ線の計数が可能となるように、走査される容積体の少なくとも上方及び下方に配置されたドリフトセルを備え、使用時に、前記容積体を通過する前記ミューオンの多重散乱から、前記容積体に収容されている高密度遮蔽体を選択的に検出すると共に、前記容積体に収容されている放射線源から放射されたガンマ線から、前記容積体に収容されている放射性物質を検出する監視システム。
- 前記ドリフトセルは、アルミニウムドリフトセル又は内部導電性コーティングを有するカーボン複合材ドリフトセルを含み、前記ドリフトセルは、断面が円形又は非円形のドリフトチューブ、又は非チューブ状セルを含む請求項10に記載のシステム。
- 前記ドリフトセルの作動ガスは、不燃性ガスを含む請求項11に記載のシステム。
- 前記作動ガスは、アルゴンと、二酸化炭素、イソブタン、4フッ化炭素、及びエタンからなるグループから選択される少なくとも1つのガスとの混合物を含む請求項11に記載のシステム。
- 前記ドリフトチューブは、2つの直交座標における別個の平面に配置され、又は前記ドリフトチューブは、非直交平面に配置される請求項11に記載のシステム。
- 前記容積体は、乗物又は貨物コンテナを前記容積体に収容するために十分な寸法を有する請求項10に記載のシステム。
- 走査される容積体の相対する両側に複数のドリフトセルを配置する工程と、
前記ドリフトセルによって、入射宇宙線生成荷電粒子及び出射宇宙線生成荷電粒子、並びにガンマ線を検出する工程と、
前記容積体を通過する前記荷電粒子の多重散乱から、前記容積体に収容されている物質を選択的に検出する工程と、
前記ガンマ線の検出から、前記容積体に収容されている放射線源を検出する工程とを有する監視の方法。 - 前記ドリフトセルは、断面が円形又は非円形のドリフトチューブ、又は非チューブ状セルを含む請求項16に記載の方法。
- 前記ドリフトセルは、密封されたドリフトセルを含む請求項17に記載の方法。
- 前記複数のドリフトセルを配置する工程は、前記容積体の上方にドリフトチューブの少なくとも3つの平面の組を配置する工程と、前記容積体の下方にドリフトチューブの少なくとも3つの平面の組を配置する工程とを含む請求項17に記載の方法。
- 前記複数のドリフトセルを配置する工程は、2つの直交座標における別個の平面に前記ドリフトチューブを配置し、又は非直交平面に前記ドリフトチューブを配置する工程を含む請求項16に記載の方法。
- 物体収容領域の第1の側に配置され、前記物体収容領域に向かう入射荷電粒子の位置と方向を測定する第1の位置感知荷電粒子検出器セットと、
物体収容領域の前記第1の側の反対側の第2の側に配置され、前記物体収容領域から出て行く出射荷電粒子の位置と方向を測定する第2の位置感知荷電粒子検出器セットと、
前記第1の位置感知荷電粒子検出器セットからの入射荷電粒子の測定信号のデータと前記第2の位置感知荷電粒子検出器セットからの出射荷電粒子の測定信号を受け取る信号処理ユニットと、
を含み、
前記信号処理ユニットは、荷電粒子の測定された入射及び出射の位置と方向に基づいて、前記物体収容領域内の物質における荷電粒子の散乱を解析して、トモグラフィ・プロファイル又は物体収容領域内の散乱中心の空間分布を得る、粒子検出システム。 - 前記ドリフトセルは、第1の方向の少なくとも3つの荷電粒子位置測定及び前記第1の方向とは異なる第2の方向の少なくとも3つの荷電粒子位置測定が可能となるように配置された請求項21に記載のシステム。
- 前記ドリフトセルは、物体収容領域の周囲の側面にボックス又は4面構造を形成するように適応化及び配置されている請求項21に記載のシステム。
- 前記信号処理ユニットは、物体収容領域を介する荷電粒子の軌道を再構成し、前記第1の位置感知荷電粒子検出器セットからの信号に基づいて、入射荷電粒子の運動量を測定し、前記第2の位置感知荷電粒子検出器セットからの信号に基づいて、出射荷電粒子の運動量を測定し、物体収容領域の散乱密度の空間分布を取得する請求項21に記載のシステム。
