Description
本発明は、米国エネルギー省によって与えられた、契約番号DE-AC52-06NA25396に基づく政府支援でなされた。米国政府は、本発明に於いて一定の権利を保有する。
時刻ゼロ・フィティングによるこのような飛跡の再構成法に於いては、高速な検出器(シンチレータ・パドル付光電子増倍管など)を、或いはミューオンの装置内の通過を数ナノ秒の単位で検出して時刻ゼロ値を与える何か他の高速検出器を使用することなく、荷電粒子検出器を通過する荷電粒子の再構成された直線軌道が得られる。
Claims (8)
- 物体収容領域の上の第1の側に配置され、前記物体収容領域に向かう入射荷電粒子の位置と方向を測定する第1の位置感知荷電粒子検出器セットと、
物体収容領域の下の第2の側に配置され、前記物体収容領域から出て行く出射荷電粒子の位置と方向を測定する第2の位置感知荷電粒子検出器セットと、
前記第1の側と前記第2の側の間の前記物体収容領域の第3の側に配置され、前記物体収容領域を通過する荷電粒子又は前記物体収容領域から発生する荷電粒子の位置と方向を測定する第3の位置感知荷電粒子検出器セットと、
前記第1の側と前記第2の側の間であって、前記第3の側の反対側の前記物体収容領域の第4の側に配置され、前記物体収容領域を通過する荷電粒子又は前記物体収容領域から発生する荷電粒子の位置と方向を測定する第4の位置感知荷電粒子検出器セットと、
前記第1の位置感知荷電粒子検出器セット、第2の位置感知荷電粒子検出器セット、前記第3の位置感知荷電粒子検出器セット、及び前記第4の位置感知荷電粒子検出器セットから、検出された荷電粒子の測定信号のデータを受信する信号処理ユニットと、を備え、
前記信号処理ユニットは、前記測定信号に基づいて前記物体収容領域の内部の物質における荷電粒子の散乱を分析し、前記物体収容領域の内部の散乱中心のトモグラフィ特性又は空間分布を取得するように構成され、
前記第1、第2、第3、または第4の位置感知荷電粒子検出器セットは、0度の位置にある第1の二重層ドリフトチューブと、当該第1の二重層ドリフトチューブから45度の位置にある第2の二重層ドリフトチューブと、前記第1の二重層ドリフトチューブから90度の位置にある第3の二重層ドリフトチューブと、を備える、粒子検出システム。 - 請求項1において、
各位置感知荷電粒子検出器は、宇宙線生成ミューオンとガンマ線の両方を検出するように構築される、粒子検出システム。 - 請求項2において、
さらに、能動的反応測定のためにガンマ線を放射するガンマ線源を備える、粒子検出システム。 - 請求項2において、
さらに、能動的反応測定のために中性子源を備える、粒子検出システム。 - 請求項1において、
前記第1、第2、または第3の二重層ドリフトチューブが、第1の方向の少なくとも3つの荷電粒子位置測定及び前記第1の方向とは異なる第2の方向の少なくとも3つの荷電粒子位置測定が可能となるように配置された、粒子検出システム。 - 請求項1において、
前記信号処理ユニットは、散乱密度を用いて前記物体収容領域における物体の存在及びタイプの何れか或いは両方を特定するように構成される、粒子検出システム。 - 請求項1において、
前記信号処理ユニットは、物体収容領域を介する荷電粒子の軌道を再構成し、前記第1の側、前記第3の側、又は前記第4の側の前記位置感知荷電粒子検出器からの信号に基づいて、入射荷電粒子の運動量を測定し、前記第2の側、前記第3の側、又は前記第4の側の前記位置感知荷電粒子検出器からの信号に基づいて、出射荷電粒子の運動量を測定し、前記物体収容領域の散乱密度の空間分布を取得するように構成される、粒子検出システム。 - 請求項1において、
前記信号処理ユニットは、前記物体収容領域の散乱密度の空間分布を決定し、散乱角度に対応する所定の荷電粒子トモグラフィ・データと前記物体収容領域を通過する荷電粒子の推定運動量を取得し、統計的多重散乱モデルに基づく期待値最大化アルゴリズムで用いる荷電粒子の確率分布を提供し、前記期待値最大化アルゴリズムを用いて、前記物体収容領域の前記散乱密度の実質的な最尤推定値を決定する、ように構成される、粒子検出システム。
