Abstract
【解決手段】希土類永久磁石16は、R−Fe−B系永久磁石(Rは希土類元素)22の表面に、膜厚が15μm以上30μm以下の柱状結晶状の電気Niめっき被膜21を有する。この電気Niめっき被膜21は、ビッカース硬度が300以上600以下の高硬度領域とビッカース硬度が150以上300以下の低硬度領域とを有する。この希土類永久磁石16は、自動車用IPM型モータのロータヨーク内のスロットに挿入して使用される。

Description
粉末冶金法によって作成したNd−Fe−Bの焼結体を、アルゴン雰囲気中で600℃にて2時間の熱処理を施したのち、15×40×8(mm)の大きさに加工し、さらにバレル研磨処理により面取りを行って磁石素体を得た。次いで、この磁石素体を、アルカリ性脱脂液で洗浄した後、硝酸溶液により表面の活性化を行い、水洗した。
以下の手順を除き、実施例1と同様の手順を経ることにより比較例1の希土類永久磁石を得た。すなわち、電気めっきによりニッケルめっき膜よりなる保護膜を膜厚20μm形成した。この時、バレルめっき工法を用い、めっき浴として、硫酸ニッケル・6水和物を240g/L、塩化ニッケル・6水和物を50g/L、ホウ酸を30g/L、2−ブチン−1,4−ジオールを0.5g/L、サッカリンを1g/L、pHを4.5に調整した。また液温50℃、平均電流密度を1A/dm2で一定になるように調整した。これにより比較例1の希土類永久磁石(サンプル2)を得た。
以下の手順を除き、実施例1と同様の手順を経ることにより比較例2の希土類永久磁石を得た。すなわち、電気めっきによりニッケルめっき膜よりなる保護膜を膜厚20μm形成した。この時、バレルめっき工法を用い、めっき浴として、硫酸ニッケル・6水和物を240g/L、塩化ニッケル・6水和物を50g/L、ホウ酸を30g/L、pHを4.5に調整した。また液温50℃、平均電流密度を0.1A/dm2で一定になるように調整した。これにより比較例2の希土類永久磁石(サンプル3)を得た。
サンプルの表面の任意の2箇所に1×10−4〜3×10−4Jのエネルギーを107〜109回与える過酷衝撃疲労試験を行った。その結果、実施例1の希土類永久磁石サンプル1において、Niめっき保護膜の平均摩耗量は5μm、最大磨耗量は11μmであった。
上記サンプル1〜3の全てに対して、50℃×95%の恒温恒湿槽内に72時間放置するという耐食性試験を行ったところ、いずれのサンプルも錆を発生せず、優れた耐食性を有していることが確認された。

Claims (3)
- 自動車用IPM型モータのロータヨーク内のスロットに挿入して使用される希土類永久磁石であって、R−Fe−B系永久磁石(Rは希土類元素)の表面に、膜厚が15μm以上30μm以下の電気Niめっき被膜を単層で有し、前記電気Niめっき被膜は、ビッカース硬度が300以上600以下の高硬度領域とビッカース硬度が150以上300以下の低硬度領域とを有し、前記高硬度領域と前記低硬度領域とが平面的に混在していることを特徴とする希土類永久磁石。
- 前記高硬度領域のビッカース硬度が350以上600以下であり、前記低硬度領域のビッカース硬度が150以上250以下であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の希土類永久磁石。
- 電気Niめっき被膜が柱状結晶状であることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の希土類永久磁石。
