熱防護性能試験(TPP)
「熱防護性能試験」NFPA 2112(「TPP」と称される)を使用して、熱および火炎中の布帛の予測防護性能を測定する。水平位置に取り付けられた布帛切片に、規定の熱流束(典型的に84kW/m2)で火炎を向ける。試験は、布帛と熱センサーの間に空隙なしで、銅スラグ熱量計を使用して、熱源から検体を通して伝達される熱エネルギーを測定する。試験終点は、シュトール(Stoll)およびキアンタ(Chianta)、Transactions New York Academy Science、1971年、33、649頁で開発された単純化モデルを使用して、予測された第二度皮膚熱傷に達する所要時間によって特性決定される。TPP値として示される、この試験で検体に割り当てられる値は、終点に達するのに必要な総熱エネルギー、または予測された熱傷に至る直接的熱源曝露時間を入射熱流束で乗じたものである。より高いTPP値は、より良い断熱性能を示す。
耐摩耗性は、ASTM法D3884−80を使用して、郵便番号14120ニューヨーク州ノーストナワンダ市ブライアント通り455番地のテレダイン・テーバー(Teledyne Taber(455 Bryant St.,North Tonawanda,N.Y.14120))から入手できるH−18ホイール・テーバー(Taber)耐摩耗試験機上の500gm負荷によって、判定される。テーバー(Taber)耐摩耗性は破損までのサイクルとして報告される。
布帛またはその他のシート材料の破断強度および伸びの判定である掴み強度の測定は、ASTM D5034に基づく。100mm(4.0インチ)幅の検体を引張り試験機のクランプ内に中央に取り付けて、検体が破損するまで加力する。試験w検体の破断荷重および伸び値は、試験機の秤、または試験機のインターフェースであるコンピューターから得る。
引裂き強度測定(「TRAP引裂き」とも称される)は、ASTM D5587−96に基づく。この試験法は、記録定速伸長タイプ(CRE)の引張り試験機を使用したトラペゾイド手順によって、テキスタイル布帛の引裂き強度測定をカバーする。この試験法で測定されるような引裂き強度は、試験前に引裂きを開始する必要がある。引裂きを開始するために、検体を台形の最少底辺の中央で細長く切る。印のついた台形の非平行辺を引張り試験機の平行するジョー内にクランプする。ジョーの離隔距離を連続的に増大し、加力して検体全体に引裂きを広める。同時に発生した力を記録する。引裂きを継続する力は、自動チャート記録器またはマイクロプロセッサデータ収集システムから計算される。台形引裂き強度について、単一ピーク力、および5つの最高ピーク力の平均の2つの計算が提供される。この特許の実施例では単一ピーク力が使用される。
垂直火炎試験は、ASTM D6143で述べられるようにして実施する。試験に準じて布帛切片を垂直に取り付けて、その下縁に12秒間にわたり規定の火炎をあてる。火炎曝露に対する布帛の反応を記録する。燃焼または炭化した布帛の長さを測定する。残炎(すなわち試験火炎を除去した後の布帛切片の持続的燃焼)および残光(試験火炎を除去した後の布帛切片のくすぶりによって特徴づけられる)時間もまた測定する。さらに布帛切片からの融解および滴下についての観察を記録する。この方法に基づく合格/不合格規格が、作業服、消防服および難燃性消防署作業着、および軍服について確立される。布帛が、標準的な工業界の耐火性の概念である、火炎への12秒間曝露後に6インチ未満の炭化長を有すれば、耐火性と見なすことができる。

FRレーヨンステープルファイバーとポリピリドビスイミダゾールステープルファイバーとの均質混合物の縦および横リング精紡糸の双方を有する、熱防護性で耐久性のある布帛を調製する。FRレーヨンは、オーストリアのレンチング・ファイバーズ(Lenzing Fibers(Austria))から登録商標レンチング(Lenzing)FR(登録商標)の下に入手できる、リン化合物を含有するセルロース繊維であり、10GPa(70gpd)未満で約0.5gpdであると考えられる引張り弾性率を有する。ポリピリドビスイミダゾールステープルファイバーはPIPDポリマーから作られ、登録商標M5(登録商標)繊維の下にマジェラン・システムズ・インターナショナル(Magellan Systems International)によって市販され、約1400gpdの引張り弾性率を有する。
モダクリルステープルファイバー、ポリピリドビスイミダゾールステープルファイバー、および帯電防止ステープルファイバーの均質混合物のリング精紡糸の縦糸および横糸の双方を有する、熱防護および耐久性のある布帛を調製する。モダクリルステープルファイバーは、アクリロニトリル/ポリ塩化ビニリデンコポリマーから作られ、(カネカから入手できる)登録商標プロテックス(Protex)(登録商標)Cの下に知られており、約40gpdの引張り弾性率を有する。ポリピリドビスイミダゾール繊維はPIPDポリマーから作られ、登録商標M5(登録商標)繊維の下にマジェラン・システムズ・インターナショナル(Magellan Systems International)によって市販され、約1400gpdの引張り弾性率を有する。帯電防止ステープルファイバーはナイロンシースおよび炭素コアを有して、インビスタ(Invista)から入手できP−140ナイロン繊維として知られている。
Claims (20)
- 20dl/gを超える固有粘度および120GPa(820gpd)を超える引張り弾性率を有する55〜95重量部のポリピリドビスイミダゾール繊維と、
10GPa(70gpd)未満の引張り弾性率を有する5〜45重量部の可撓性繊維と
を含んでなる、ステープルファイバーの均質混合物を含んでなる服飾品および被服で有用な布帛。 - 60〜80重量部のポリピリドビスイミダゾール繊維を含んでなる請求項1に記載の布帛。
- 可撓性繊維が24を超える限界酸素指数を有する請求項1に記載の布帛。
- 可撓性繊維がアラミドポリマーまたはポリビベンゾイミダゾールポリマーから作られる請求項3に記載の布帛。
- 可撓性繊維が難燃性化学処理剤を含む請求項1に記載の布帛。
- 可撓性繊維が熱可塑性ポリマーから作られる請求項5に記載の布帛。
- 可撓性繊維が天然繊維である請求項5に記載の布帛。
- ポリピリドビスイミダゾール繊維が25dl/gを超える固有粘度を有する請求項1に記載の布帛。
- ポリピリドビスイミダゾール繊維が28dl/gを超える固有粘度を有する請求項1に記載の布帛。
- ポリピリドビスイミダゾール繊維がポリ[2,6−ジイミダゾ[4,5−b:4,5−e]−ピリジニレン−1,4(2,5−ジヒドロキシ)フェニレン)繊維である請求項1に記載の布帛。
- 織布の形態である請求項1に記載の布帛。
- 不織布の形態である請求項1に記載の布帛。
- 請求項3に記載の耐炎性布帛を含んでなる防護物品または被服。
- 請求項5に記載の耐炎性布帛を含んでなる防護物品または被服。
- 20dl/gを超える固有粘度および120GPa(820gpd)を超える引張り弾性率を有する55〜95重量部のポリピリドビスイミダゾール繊維と、
10GPa(70gpd)未満の引張り弾性率を有する5〜45重量部の可撓性繊維と
の均質混合物を含んでなるステープルファイバー糸を製織するステップを含んでなる布帛の製造方法。 - ポリピリドビスイミダゾール繊維が60〜80重量部で存在する請求項14に記載の方法。
- ポリピリドビスイミダゾール繊維がポリ[2,6−ジイミダゾ[4,5−b:4,5−e]−ピリジニレン−1,4(2,5−ジヒドロキシ)フェニレン)繊維である請求項14に記載の方法。
- 20dl/gを超える固有粘度および120GPa(820gpd)を超える引張り弾性率を有する55〜95重量部のポリピリドビスイミダゾール繊維と、
