式中、lnは自然対数関数であり、Cはポリマー溶液の濃度である。Vrelはポリマー溶液粘度と、ポリマーを含まない溶剤粘度との単位のない比率であるので、Vinhは濃度の逆数の単位で典型的にグラムあたりデシリットル(「dl/g」)として表現される。したがって本発明の特定の態様ではポリピリドイミダゾールポリマーが生成され、それはメタンスルホン酸中のポリマー濃度0.05g/dlで、30℃において少なくとも約20dl/gの固有粘度を有するポリマー溶液を提供するとして特徴づけられる。ここで開示される本発明から得られるより高分子量のポリマーは、粘稠なポリマー溶液を生じるので、妥当な時間内に固有粘度を測定するためには、メタンスルホン酸中で約0.05g/dlのポリマー濃度が有用である。
ポリベンゾイミダゾール繊維、ポリピリドビスイミダゾールステープルファイバー、および帯電防止ステープルファイバーの均質混合物の縦および横リング精紡糸の双方を有する、耐熱性で耐久性のある布帛を調製する。ポリベンゾイミダゾールステープルファイバーは、ポリ(2,2’−(m−フェニレン)−5,5’−ビベンゾイミダゾール)ポリマーから作られ、一般的な命名、PBI繊維(ノースカロライナ州シャーロットのPBIパフォーマンス(PBI Performance(Charlotte,NC))から入手できる)の下に知られている。ポリピリドビスイミダゾールステープルファイバーはPIPDポリマーから作られ、マジェラン・システムズ・インターナショナル(Magellan Systems International)によって登録商標M5(登録商標)の下に市販され、帯電防止ステープルファイバーはナイロンシースおよび炭素コアを有して、P−140ナイロン繊維として知られている(インビスタ(Invista)から入手できる)。

Claims (4)
- 20dl/gを超える固有粘度を有する5〜50重量部のポリピリドビスイミダゾール繊維と、
50〜95重量部のポリベンゾイミダゾール繊維と
を含んでなる外面シェル布帛を有する耐炎性被服。 - ポリベンゾイミダゾール繊維がポリビベンゾイミダゾールポリマーを含んでなる請求項1に記載の繊維の配合物。
- a)内側熱ライニング、
b)液体バリア、および
c)外面シェル布帛
を順番に含んでなり、外面シェル布帛が、
20dl/gを超える固有粘度を有する5〜50重量部のポリピリドビスイミダゾール繊維と、
50〜95重量部のポリベンゾイミダゾール繊維と
を含んでなる耐炎性被服。 - 20dl/gを超える固有粘度を有する5〜50重量部のポリピリドビスイミダゾール繊維と、
50〜95重量部のポリベンゾイミダゾール繊維と
を含んでなる外面シェル布帛を被服に組み込むことによって、内側熱ライニング、液体バリア、および外面シェル布帛を有する耐炎性被服の製造方法。
