Claims (20)
- 血管から塞栓物又はその他の粒子を除去するための細長い可撓性の吸引カテーテルであって、前記カテーテルは、
単一の内腔であって、チューブ壁によって画成されチューブ基端に配置された第1の液体ポートをチューブ先端に配置された第2の液体ポートへ流体的に接続することを特徴とする単一の内腔と、前記チューブ壁の内部に封入された補強層と、長軸と短軸を確定する楕円形の横断面を有する前記吸引チューブの変形部分とを有する吸引チューブと、
前記吸引チューブの前記変形部分だけに並列に延在してこれに固定されて前記短軸が前記ガイドワイヤ・チューブを横断方向に延在するように構成されたガイドワイヤ・チューブであって、それを長手方向に貫通して医療用ガイドワイヤを摺動自在に受け入れるためにこれの基端と先端に開口する円形の内腔を有するガイドワイヤ・チューブと、
前記第1の液体ポートと流体的に連通する前記吸引チューブ基端に装着されたフィッティングと
を含むことを特徴とするカテーテル。 - 前記吸引チューブの前記変形部分は前記第1の液体ポートから前記第2の液体ポートまで連続して延在することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の吸引カテーテル。
- 前記吸引チューブの前記変形部分は前記第2の液体ポートから基端側に少なくとも約10センチメートルの距離だけ延在することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の吸引カテーテル。
- 前記吸引チューブの前記変形部分を含む前記カテーテルの双腔部分は前記吸引腔断面の長軸に沿って測定したときの第1の外径と、前記吸引腔断面の短軸に沿って測定したときの第2の外径とを有し、前記第1の外径は前記第2の外径の約84%から約98%の範囲にあることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の吸引カテーテル。
- 前記第2の外径は約1.73mm(0.068インチ)より小さいことを特徴とする請求項4に記載の吸引カテーテル。
- 前記吸引チューブの前記変形部分を含む前記カテーテルの双腔部分において、前記吸引チューブの前記内腔は前記ガイドワイヤ・チューブの内腔の断面積の少なくとも5倍の断面積を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の吸引カテーテル。
- 前記吸引チューブの前記内腔は前記ガイドワイヤ・チューブの前記断面積の少なくとも6倍の断面積を有することを特徴とする請求項6に記載の吸引カテーテル。
- 前記ガイドワイヤ・チューブは接着剤、溶剤ボンド、前記ガイドワイヤ・チューブと前記吸引チューブを包囲するオーバースリーブ(over sleeve)の中から選択した固定手段により前記吸引チューブへ固定されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の吸引カテーテル。
- 前記吸引チューブ壁はさらに
前記吸引チューブ内腔を画成する内側表面を有するライナーと、
前記ライナーの周囲に配置されてこれに接着されたジャケットとを含み、補強層が前記ジャケットと前記ライナーの間に間置されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の吸引カテーテル。 - 前記ジャケットは前記吸引チューブの前記変形部分に沿って存在しないことにより前記ガイドワイヤ・チューブが前記補強層と前記ライナーに直接固定されるように構成されたことを特徴とする請求項9に記載の吸引チューブ。
- 前記ジャケットは前記カテーテルに沿って異なる係数を有する二つ以上の材料を含むことを特徴とする請求項9に記載の吸引カテーテル。
- 前記補強層は筒状編組体を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の吸引カテーテル。
- 前記筒状編組体は前記カテーテルに沿って異なるピックカウント(pick count)を有する二つ以上の部分を有することを特徴とする請求項12に記載の吸引カテーテル。
- 前記第2の液体ポートは前記ガイドワイヤ・チューブから離れる方向に向いた斜め開口部を形成することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の吸引カテーテル。
- 吸引カテーテルを作成する方法であって、前記方法は以下の順番で、
第1の細長い可撓性チューブであって、前記チューブの壁の内部に封入された補強層と、前記チューブを貫通する単一の内腔とを有する可撓性チューブと提供するステップと、
第2の細長い可撓性チューブであって、その中を長手方向に貫通して延在し、その基端と先端で開口する内腔を有する第2の細長い可撓性チューブを提供するステップと、
前記第2のチューブを前記第1のチューブに並列して固定するステップと、
前記第2のチューブに対して前記第1のチューブを圧縮するステップであって、前記第1のチューブは前記第1のチューブの横断面が楕円形の形状に永久変形するまで充分に圧縮され、前記第2のチューブはこれを貫通するマンドレルによって支持されて前記第1のチューブの圧縮中に前記第2のチューブの変形を防止することを特徴とするステップと、
前記第2のチューブの前記内腔から前記マンドレルを抜去するステップと、
を含むことを特徴とする方法。 - 前記第1のチューブに並列に前記第2の細長い可撓性チューブを固定するステップは、前記第1と第2のチューブをオーバースリーブで包囲するステップをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項15に記載の方法。
