Abstract
【解決手段】一対の基板1,2間の間隙に封入され、液晶分子が一対の基板1,2間において予め定めた捩れ角でツイスト配向した液晶層3と、一対の基板1,2の液晶層3に対向する内面にそれぞれ設けられ、液晶分子の配向状態を制御するための電圧が印加される複数の電極6,7と、観察側基板1の外面に配置され、可視光帯域の全域の波長光に対して偏光作用を示すノーマル偏光板9と、反対側基板2の外面に配置され、可視光帯域のうちの特定の帯域以外の帯域の波長光に対して偏光作用を示すカラー偏光板10と、前記カラー偏光板10の反対側基板2と対向する面とは反対面に配置され、観察側から入射した光を前記観察側へ反射する反射板11とを備えた。

Description
予め定めた間隙を設けて対向配置された観察側とその反対側の一対の基板と、
前記一対の基板間の間隙に封入され、液晶分子が前記一対の基板間において予め定めた捩れ角でツイスト配向した液晶層と、
前記一対の基板の前記液晶層に対向する内面にそれぞれ設けられ、前記液晶分子の配向状態を制御するための電圧が印加される複数の電極と、
前記観察側基板の外面に配置され、可視光帯域の全域の波長光に対して偏光作用を示すノーマル偏光板と、
前記反対側基板の外面に配置され、可視光帯域のうちの特定の帯域以外の帯域の波長光に対して偏光作用を示すカラー偏光板と、
前記カラー偏光板の前記反対側基板と対向する面とは反対面に配置され、前記観察側から入射した光を前記観察側へ反射する反射板と、
を備えることを特徴とする。
Claims (3)
- 予め定めた間隙を設けて対向配置された観察側とその反対側の一対の基板と、
前記一対の基板間の間隙に封入され、液晶分子が前記一対の基板間において予め定めた捩れ角でツイスト配向した液晶層と、
前記一対の基板の前記液晶層に対向する内面にそれぞれ設けられ、前記液晶分子の配向状態を制御するための電圧が印加される複数の電極と、
前記観察側基板の外面に配置され、可視光帯域の全域の波長光に対して偏光作用を示すノーマル偏光板と、
前記反対側基板の外面に配置され、可視光帯域のうちの特定の帯域以外の帯域の波長光に対して偏光作用を示すカラー偏光板と、
前記カラー偏光板の前記反対側基板と対向する面とは反対面に配置され、前記観察側から入射した光を前記観察側へ反射する反射板と、
を備えることを特徴とする液晶表示素子。 - ノーマル偏光板は、その透過軸を、観察側基板の近傍における液晶分子の配向方向と実質的に平行または直交する方向に向けて配置され、カラー偏光板は、その透過軸を、反対側基板の近傍における液晶分子の配向方向と実質的に平行または直交する方向に向けて配置されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示素子。
- 液晶層の液晶分子は、一対の基板間において実質的に90°の捩れ角でツイスト配向しており、ノーマル偏光板とカラー偏光板は、それぞれの透過軸を実質的に互いに直交させるか、或いは実質的に互いに平行にして配置されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示素子。
