Abstract
【解決手段】スメクティック液晶を滴下法により滴下し、液晶層を形成する液晶表示装置の作製方法であり、スメクティック液晶を、基板上に設けられた開口部を有するシール材のシールパターンによって囲まれた領域の配向膜上に、配向膜のラビング方向に対して平行に一列になるように複数滴下する。余分な液晶はシールパターンの開口部よりシール材のシールパターン外へ排出し、液晶層を形成する。

Description
本実施の形態では、液晶の配向乱れを防ぎ、高精度に配向した均一な液晶層を有し、より高い性能及び画質を付与することを目的とした液晶表示装置の一例について説明する。

本実施の形態では、液晶の配向乱れを防ぎ、高精度に配向した均一な液晶層を有し、より高い性能及び画質を付与することを目的とした液晶表示装置の一例について説明する。具体的には、本発明を用いた結晶性半導体膜を有する薄膜トランジスタを用いた液晶表示装置について説明する。
本実施の形態では液晶の配向乱れを防ぎ、高精度に配向した均一な液晶層を有し、より高い性能及び画質を付与することを目的とした液晶表示装置の一例について説明する。具体的には、本発明を用いた非晶質半導体膜を有する薄膜トランジスタを用いた液晶表示装置について説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明を用いた液晶表示装置が有する各回路等の動作について説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明を用いた液晶表示装置に用いることのできる照明手段であるバックライトの構成について説明する。バックライトは光源を有するバックライトユニットとして液晶表示装置に設けられ、バックライトユニットは効率よく光を散乱させるため、光源は反射板により囲まれている。
液晶の配向乱れを防ぎ、高精度に配向した均一な液晶層を有し、より高い性能及び画質を付与することを目的とした液晶表示装置の一例について説明する。具体的には、本発明を用いた液晶表示モジュールについて説明する。
本発明によって形成される液晶表示装置によって、テレビジョン装置(単にテレビ、又はテレビジョン受信機ともよぶ)を完成させることができる。図15はテレビジョン装置の主要な構成を示すブロック図を示している。
本発明に係る電子機器として、テレビジョン装置(単にテレビ、又はテレビジョン受信機ともよぶ)、デジタルカメラ、デジタルビデオカメラ等のカメラ、携帯電話装置(単に携帯電話機、携帯電話ともよぶ)、PDA等の携帯情報端末、携帯型ゲーム機、コンピュータ用のモニタ、コンピュータ、カーオーディオ等の音響再生装置、家庭用ゲーム機等の記録媒体を備えた画像再生装置等が挙げられる。また、パチンコ機、スロットマシン、ピンボール機、大型ゲーム機など液晶表示装置を有するあらゆる遊技機に適用することができる。その具体例について、図17を参照して説明する。
Claims (11)
- ラビング処理が施された一対の基板の一方に、シール材により、少なくとも一の角部に開口部を有する枠状のシールパターンを形成し、
前記シールパターンの枠内に、前記ラビング処理の方向に対して平行な方向に、スメクティック液晶を複数回、一列に滴下し、
前記一対の基板を、前記スメクティック液晶を挟持するように、前記シール材を介して貼り合わせ、
前記シールパターンの枠内に、前記スメクティック液晶を拡充するように充填することを特徴とする液晶表示装置の作製方法。 - ラビング処理が施された一対の基板の一方に、シール材により、少なくとも一の角部に開口部を有する枠状のシールパターンを形成し、
前記シールパターンの枠内に、前記ラビング処理の方向に対して平行な方向に、スメクティック液晶を複数回、一部重なるように一列に滴下し、
前記一対の基板を、前記スメクティック液晶を挟持するように、前記シール材を介して貼り合わせ、
前記シールパターンの枠内に、前記スメクティック液晶を拡充するように充填することを特徴とする液晶表示装置の作製方法。 - 請求項1又は請求項2において、前記シールパターンの開口より前記スメクティック液晶の一部が枠外へ排出されることを特徴とする液晶表示装置の作製方法。
- 請求項1乃至3のいずれか一項において、前記シールパターンの開口部は複数であることを特徴とする液晶表示装置の作製方法。
- 請求項1乃至4のいずれか一項において、前記スメクティック液晶は強誘電性液晶、または反強誘電性液晶であることを特徴とする液晶表示装置の作製方法。
- 請求項1乃至4のいずれか一項において、前記スメクティック液晶に紫外線硬化樹脂を添加することを特徴とする液晶表示装置の作製方法。
- 請求項1乃至6のいずれか一項において、前記一対の基板は透光性を有することを特徴とする液晶表示装置の作製方法。
- 請求項1乃至7のいずれか一項において、前記一対の基板のうち対向基板に前記シールパターンを形成することを特徴とする液晶表示装置の作製方法。
- 請求項1乃至7のいずれか一項において、前記一対の基板のうち素子基板に前記シールパターンを形成することを特徴とする液晶表示装置の作製方法。
- 請求項1乃至9のいずれか一項において、前記スメクティック液晶の液滴を複数同時に滴下することを特徴とする液晶表示装置の作製方法。
- 請求項1乃至10のいずれか一項において、前記スメクティック液晶を加熱しながら滴下することを特徴とする液晶表示装置の作製方法。
