Abstract
【解決手段】陽極と陰極との間に有機材料からなる発光層を挟持してなる有機電界発光素子を形成した(S1)後、陽極と陰極との間に有機電界発光素子の駆動電圧よりも高い電圧を印加することにより当該有機電界発光素子の駆動電圧を低電圧化する工程を行う(S2)ことを特徴とする。

Description
図3は、実施形態の方法によって製造される表示装置20の一構成例を示す図であり、図3(A)は概略構成図、図3(B)は画素回路の構成図である。ここでは、有機電界発光素子11を用いたアクティブマトリックス方式の表示装置20の構成を説明する。
また実施形態の方法によって製造される表示装置20は、図5〜図9に示す様々な電子機器、例えば、デジタルカメラ、ノート型パーソナルコンピュータ、携帯電話等の携帯端末装置、ビデオカメラなど、電子機器に入力された映像信号、若しくは、電子機器内で生成した映像信号を、画像若しくは映像として表示するあらゆる分野の電子機器の表示装置に適用することが可能である。以下に、本発明が適用される電子機器の一例について説明する。
実施例1〜3においては、上述した実施の形態において図1を用いて説明した製造方法を適用して、図2に示す構成の有機電界発光素子11を作製した。以下にその製造手順を説明する。
比較例1は、実施例1〜3における第1の工程と同様に形成した有機電界発光素子11に対して、第2の工程としての低電圧化処理を省略した製造手順を行った。
以上のようにして得られた実施例1〜3、比較例1の有機電界発光素子11について、定電流(10mA/cm2)での初期特性を測定した。この結果を上記表3に合わせて示した。
実施例1〜3で説明した第1の工程および第2の工程を行う製造手順において、第1の工程で成膜する正孔注入層14aを上記表2-1に示した構造式(2)-9に変更した。そして、下記表4に示すように、第2の工程において直流10Vの電圧を印加する低電圧化処理を印加時間1秒で行った。
比較例2は、実施例4における第1の工程と同様に形成した有機電界発光素子11に対して、第2の工程においての低電圧化処理を省略した製造手順を行った。
以上のようにして得られた実施例4、比較例2の有機電界発光素子11ついて、定電流(10mA/cm2)での初期特性を測定した。この結果を上記表4に合わせて示した。
実施例1〜3で説明した第1の工程および第2の工程を行う製造手順において、第1の工程で成膜する正孔注入層14aを、上記表2-1に示した構造式(2)-9と、三級アミンであるα−NPD(N、N’−ビス(1−ナフチル)−N、N’−ジフェニル[1、1’-ビフェニル]−4、4’―ジアミ)との混合物[濃度比で50%:50%(1:1)]に変更した。そして、下記表5に示すように、第2の工程において直流10Vの電圧を印加する低電圧化処理を印加時間1秒で行った。
比較例3は、実施例5における第1の工程と同様に形成した有機電界発光素子11に対して、第2の工程としての低電圧化処理を省略した製造手順を行った。
以上のようにして得られた実施例5、比較例3の有機電界発光素子11ついて、定電流(10mA/cm2)での初期特性を測定した。この結果を上記表5に合わせて示した。
Claims (9)
- 陽極と陰極との間に有機材料からなる発光層を挟持してなる有機電界発光素子を形成した後、
前記陽極と陰極との間に、前記有機電界発光素子の駆動電圧よりも高い電圧を印加することにより当該有機電界発光素子の駆動電圧を低電圧化する工程を行う
ことを特徴とする有機電界発光素子の製造方法。 - 請求項1記載の有機電界発光素子の製造方法において、
前記駆動電圧を低電圧化する工程では、前記陽極と陰極との間にパルス波形の電圧を印加する
ことを特徴とする有機電界発光素子の製造方法。 - 請求項1記載の有機電界発光素子の製造方法において、
前記駆動電圧を低電圧化する工程では、前記陽極と陰極との間に複数回の電圧印加を行う
ことを特徴とする有機電界発光素子の製造方法。 - 請求項1記載の有機電界発光素子の製造方法において、
前記駆動電圧を低電圧化する工程の前または後に、さらに前記陽極と陰極との間に当該工程よりも低電圧で長時間の電圧を印加して前記有機電界発光素子の輝度の低下を安定化する工程を行う
ことを特徴とする有機電界発光素子の製造方法。 - 請求項1記載の有機電界発光素子の製造方法において、
前記陽極は、アルミニウムよりも仕事関数が低い元素を副成分としたアルミニウム合金を用いて形成する
ことを特徴とする有機電界発光素子の製造方法。 - 請求項5記載の有機電界発光素子の製造方法において、
前記陽極を構成するアルミニウム合金の副成分が、ランタノイド系列元素である
ことを特徴とする有機電界発光素子の製造方法。 - 請求項1記載の有機電界発光素子の製造方法において、
前記陽極と発光層との間には、当該陽極と接する状態で下記一般式(1)に示す材料を用いた層が配置されている
ことを特徴とする有機電界発光素子の製造方法。
- 請求項1記載の有機電界発光素子の製造方法において、
前記陽極と発光層との間には、当該陽極と接する状態で下記一般式(2)に示す材料を用いた層が配置されている
ことを特徴とする有機電界発光素子の製造方法。
- 陽極と陰極との間に有機材料からなる発光層を挟持してなる有機電界発光素子を基板上に複数配列形成した後、
前記陽極と陰極との間に、前記有機電界発光素子の駆動電圧よりも高い電圧を印加することにより当該有機電界発光素子の駆動電圧を低電圧化する工程を行う
ことを特徴とする表示装置の製造方法。
