Abstract
【解決手段】強誘電性液晶を用いたフィールドシーケンシャルカラー方式による液晶表示装置であって、1フレーム周期内をデータ書き込み期間と、データ書き込み期間後のAC駆動化期間とに分け、データ書き込み期間において、赤、緑、青のバックライトの点灯期間に同期して、同極性の電圧を順次印加して赤、緑、青の表示画像を生成した後に、AC駆動化期間において、表示画像の生成とは逆極性の電圧を印加する。

Description
本発明の液晶表示装置は、高速応答性に優れたHalf−V Shapeの強誘電性液晶を用いて、片側の極性の電圧でのみデータ表示が可能であり、逆極性の電圧ではほぼ黒状態になるというHalf−V Shapeの強誘電性液晶の特性を活かした駆動方式を行うことにより、液晶駆動周波数を上げることなく動画応答性を改善することができることを特徴とするものである。
まず始めに、液晶表示装置の動画応答性を改善するための方法について説明する。
図1は、動画応答性を模式的に表現した説明図である。具体的には、縦軸が時間であり、横軸が場所を示しており、黒画面の左から灰色の画面が移動していることを示している。
Claims (4)
- 強誘電性液晶を用いたフィールドシーケンシャルカラー方式による液晶表示装置であって、
1フレーム周期内をデータ書き込み期間と、前記データ書き込み期間後のAC駆動化期間とに分け、前記データ書き込み期間において、赤、緑、青のバックライトの点灯期間に同期して、同極性の電圧を順次印加して赤、緑、青の表示画像を生成した後に、前記AC駆動化期間において、前記表示画像の生成とは逆極性の電圧を印加することを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記AC駆動化期間は、前記赤、緑、青の表示画像のそれぞれに対応して個別に設けられていることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記AC駆動化期間は、前記赤、緑、青の表示画像のそれぞれをまとめて一括して設けられていることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1ないし3のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記データ書き込み期間は、赤、緑、青に対応するそれぞれの電圧を順次印加する間に、所定のリセット電圧を印加するリセット期間をさらに備えることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
