Abstract
このディスプレイには、ユーザが近傍に存在することを検出可能な静電容量センサと、当該センサの出力を利用して、それに応じてディスプレイの起動を行う手段とが組み込まれる。静電容量センサは一対の電極を備えることが好適であり、この一対の電極の1つはエレクトロルミネセント・ディスプレイの前面電極であってもよい。静電容量は、容量を充電するのにかかる時間を判定することによって感知されてもよく、容量は、静電容量を測定するのにかかる時間を減少し、かつ消費エネルギーを減少するために、2つ以上の速度で充電されてもよい。
Description
Claims (12)
- 起動「オン」状態および非起動「オフ」状態の両方を有し、前記2つの状態の間で切り替え可能式のディスプレイであって、ユーザが近傍に存在することを検出可能な静電容量センサと、当該センサの出力を利用して、それに応じて前記ディスプレイの起動を行う手段とが組み込まれたディスプレイ。
- 前記ディスプレイが、エレクトロルミネセント・ディスプレイである請求項1に記載のディスプレイ。
- 前記静電容量センサが、互いに間隔を空けた一対の電極と、前記一対の電極の静電容量を測定し、それに基づいて信号を出力する適切な電子回路とを備える請求項1または2に記載のディスプレイ。
- 前記エレクトロルミネセント・ディスプレイが、前記エレクトロルミネセント・ディスプレイの発光領域を起動させる前面電極を備え、前記静電容量センサの前記一対の電極の1つが前記前面電極である請求項2および3に記載のディスプレイ。
- 前記一対の電極の他方が、前記ディスプレイのケース、または前記ディスプレイを駆動かつ制御する回路の電源端子である請求項4に記載のディスプレイ。
- 前記電源端子が接地端子である請求項5に記載のディスプレイ。
- 前記静電容量センサまたは前記ディスプレイの起動を行う手段を、前記前面電極に存在する電圧から保護するために、ダイオードが設けられる請求項4〜6のいずれか1項に記載のディスプレイ。
- 前記静電容量センサが容量を備え、前記容量を特定の値まで充電するのにかかる時間を検出するようにディスプレイが構成される請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載のディスプレイ。
- 前記容量を2つ以上の充電速度で充電するように構成される請求項8に記載のディスプレイ。
- 前記容量を閾値電圧の近くまで充電するように第1期間の間に第1速度で、続いて前記閾値電圧に達するまで第2の著しく遅い速度で、前記容量を充電するように構成される請求項9に記載のディスプレイ。
- 前記閾値電圧に達し、ユーザが存在することを示すのにかかる時間の変化を検出するように構成される請求項10に記載のディスプレイ。
- 前記容量を前記閾値電圧まで充電するのにかかる時間からのフィードバックによって、前記第1期間を調整するように構成される請求項10または11に記載のディスプレイ。
