【解決手段】硫黄被毒回復制御の前に“煤払い”としてPM再生制御を行って、触媒内に堆積したPMを燃焼させてから、硫黄被毒回復制御を実行するにあたり、硫黄被毒回復制御時に設定する目標スロットル開度TAsox(減速時吸入空気量の制御目標値)を、PM再生制御時の目標スロットル開度TAegron1よりも閉じ側の値として減速時吸入空気量を少なくすることで、触媒床温の温度低下を抑制して触媒床温を被毒回復に適した温度に維持する。このような減速時吸入空気量制御によって、硫黄被毒回復を効率良く行うことが可能となり、硫黄被毒回復制御時の燃費の悪化を抑制することができる。

Description
本発明の燃料添加装置を適用するディーゼルエンジンの概略構成を図1を参照して説明する。
エンジン1の各部位には、各種センサが取り付けられており、それぞれの部位の環境条件や、エンジン1の運転状態に関する信号を出力する。
ECU100は、図2に示すように、CPU101、ROM102、RAM103及びバックアップRAM104などを備えている。ROM102は、各種制御プログラムや、それら各種制御プログラムを実行する際に参照されるマップ等が記憶されている。CPU101は、ROM102に記憶された各種制御プログラムやマップに基づいて各種の演算処理を実行する。また、RAM103は、CPU101での演算結果や各センサから入力されたデータ等を一時的に記憶するメモリであり、バックアップRAM104は、例えばエンジン1の停止時にその保存すべきデータ等を記憶する不揮発性のメモリである。
まず、ECU100は、DPNR触媒4bへのPMの堆積量を推定している。PM堆積量を推定する方法としては、例えば、エンジン1の運転状態(例えば、排気温度、燃料噴射量、エンジン回転数等)に応じたPM付着量を予め実験等により求めてマップ化しておき、このマップにより求められるPM付着量を積算してPMの堆積量とする方法や、車両走行距離もしくは走行時間に応じてPMの堆積量を推定する方法、あるいは、触媒装置4にDPNR触媒4bの上流側圧力と下流側圧力との差圧を検出する差圧センサを設け、そのセンサ出力に基づいてDPNR触媒4bに捕集されたPMの堆積量を推定する方法などが挙げられる。
また、ECU100は硫黄被毒回復制御を実行する。硫黄被毒回復制御とは、燃料添加弁25からの燃料添加を断続的に繰り返して触媒床温を高温化するとともに、排気ガスの空燃比をストイキあるいはリッチとし、NSR触媒4a及びDPNR触媒4b内のNOx吸蔵還元型触媒から硫黄分を放出させる制御である。そして、この例では、硫黄被毒回復制御の前にPM再生制御が実行される。
まず、エンジン1の排気浄化装置においては、硫黄被毒回復制御の前に、いわゆる“煤払い”としてPM再生制御を行って、DPNR触媒4b内に堆積したPMを燃焼させてから、硫黄被毒回復制御を実行している。このように硫黄被毒回復制御の前にPM再生制御が実行されると、硫黄被毒回復制御の実施時にはPM堆積量が少なくなっており、PM燃焼による過剰な触媒床温上昇は起こらない。こうした状況のときに、PM再生制御と同様な減速時吸入空気量の増加を行うと、NOx吸蔵還元型触媒を通過する空気量が過剰となり、触媒床温を高く保持することができずに触媒床温が低下する。このようにして触媒床温が低下すると、硫黄被毒回復制御の機会が減少して、被毒回復に要す時間が長くなるため、燃料添加量が多くなる。また、触媒床温を高くするための燃料添加が必要になることから燃費の悪化を招く。
以上の例では、本発明の排気浄化装置を筒内直噴4気筒ディーゼルエンジンに適用した例を示したが、本発明はこれに限られることなく、例えば筒内直噴6気筒ディーゼルエンジンなど他の任意の気筒数のディーゼルエンジンにも適用できる。また、筒内直噴ディーゼルエンジンに限られることなく、他のタイプのディーゼルエンジンにも本発明を適用することは可能である。また、車両用に限らず、その他の用途に使用されるエンジンにも適用可能である。

Claims (3)
- 内燃機関の排気通路に配設された触媒と、前記排気通路に燃料を添加する燃料添加弁とを備え、前記触媒のPM再生制御及び硫黄被毒回復制御を含む触媒制御を実行する内燃機関の排気浄化装置において、
前記硫黄被毒回復制御時に設定する減速時吸入空気量の制御目標値を、前記PM再生制御時よりも小さい値とすることを特徴とする内燃機関の排気浄化装置。 - 請求項1記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置において、
前記硫黄被毒回復制御の前に前記PM再生制御を実行することを特徴とする内燃機関の排気浄化装置。 - 請求項1または2記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置において、
前記PM再生制御において、PM堆積量が少ないときには、前記減速時吸入空気量の制御目標値を当該PM堆積量が多いときよりも小さくすることを特徴とする内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
