Abstract
【解決手段】1対の透明基板11、17間に液晶層12が封止され、透明基板17上には櫛歯状の画素電極13及び共通電極14が設けられた横電界方式のアクティブマトリクス型液晶表示装置において、画素電極13及び共通電極14の下層に透明絶縁膜15を介して画素を一様に覆う透明ベタ状電極16を設け、この透明ベタ状電極16を電気的にフローティングな状態とする。

Claims (8)
- 第1の基板と、この第1の基板に対向する第2の基板と、前記第1及び第2の基板間に設けられた液晶層と、前記第1の基板上に設けられマトリクス状に交差するデータ線及びゲート線と、前記第1の基板上に設けられ前記データ線及びゲート線により区画された各画素領域に形成された薄膜トランジスタと、前記第1の基板上に設けられ複数の画素に亘って基準電位を与える共通配線と、前記第1の基板上の各画素領域に形成され基板面に平行な横電界を発生させる画素電極及び共通電極と、前記第1の基板上の前記画素電極及び共通電極の下層に透明絶縁層を介して形成された透明ベタ状電極と、を有することを特徴とする横電界方式のアクティブマトリクス型液晶表示装置。
- 前記透明ベタ状電極は電気的にフローティングな状態にあることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の横電界方式のアクティブマトリクス型液晶表示装置。
- 前記透明ベタ状電極は、画素の開口部を覆うように一様に形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の横電界方式のアクティブマトリクス型液晶表示装置。
- 前記画素電極及び共通電極は、透明電極であることを特徴とする請求項1乃至3のいずれか1項に記載の横電界方式のアクティブマトリクス型液晶表示装置。
- 前記画素電極及び共通電極は、相互に噛合する櫛歯状に形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至4のいずれか1項に記載の横電界方式のアクティブマトリクス型液晶表示装置。
- 前記画素電極及び共通電極は、同一層に形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至5のいずれか1項に記載の横電界方式のアクティブマトリクス型液晶表示装置。
- 前記透明ベタ状電極は、前記ゲート線及び共通配線と同一層に形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至6のいずれか1項に記載の横電界方式のアクティブマトリクス型液晶表示装置。
- 前記透明ベタ状電極は、前記ゲート線及び共通配線と透明絶縁層を介して形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至6のいずれか1項に記載の横電界方式のアクティブマトリクス型液晶表示装置。
