本発明の他の目的、利点及び新規な特徴は、図面を利用した以下の詳細な説明に記載されており、当業者であれば容易に理解するであろう。あるいは、本願発明の実施を通じて理解されよう。本願発明のこれら目的と利点とは「請求の範囲」の記載内容に従った実施によって実現されよう。
・中間に電界を有した2体の対面電極。
・車両の金属部に静電的にカップリングされた1体の電極。
・車両に接地された人体に静電的にカップリングされた励振バックプレーン(driven backplane)に対抗(against)する1体の電極。
・平面あるいは非平面で空間的に分離された2体の非対面電極。
・(最好適)2体の隣接平面電極。
必要な唯一の定数は底三角形の辺長Sである。このオリエンテーションでは、センサー座標を利用する必要もない。本例のように配置された正三角形の場合には、以下の解法が利用できる。
ステップ1−以下の式を利用して3種のセンサー電圧値を近接度に変換する。
これでセンサーのデザインと配置性とに大きな自由度が提供される。例えば、シート真上に提供したり、乗員の頭部に敏感な半球センサーフィールドを提供する丸型電極の使用が可能となる。

Claims (4)
- 1又はそれ以上のキャパシティセンサーと、1又はそれ以上の重量センサーとを含む車両乗員センサーシステムであって、
前記キャパシティセンサーは、誘電基板の片面上に形成された2体式隣接電極を含んでおり、
前記キャパシティセンサーと重量センサーの両方から得られた情報が、上記システムに利用されていることを特徴とする車両乗員センサーシステム。 - 前記キャパシティセンサーが、車両側のルーフ、ダッシュボードおよび座席からなるグループから選択された部位に装着されていることを特徴とする、請求項1記載の車両乗員センサーシステム。
- 前記重量センサーが、車両の座席に装着されていることを特徴とする、請求項1記載の車両乗員センサーシステム。
- 乗員センサーシステムとエアーバッグ膨張手段を含む車両エアーバッグシステムであって、
前記乗員センサーシステムは、ルーフに隣接して設置された1又はそれ以上のキャパシティセンサーと、乗員の重量を検出する手段とを含んでおり、
前記エアーバッグ膨張手段は、前記キャパシティセンサーが乗員の存在を示す信号を出力し、乗員の存在を示す前記重量センサー手段からの信号を受信することを特徴とするエアーバッグシステム。
