Abstract
Description
以下の具体的な特徴を組み込むために下流ダイリップを変化させたことを除けばウィスコンシン州チペワフォールズのエクストルージョン・ダイス・インコーポレイテッド(Extrusion Dies,Inc.,Chippewa Falls,WI)より商品名「ウルトラコート」(Ultracoat)で市販されるスロットダイ装置と実質的に同じであるスロットダイ装置を使用して、再帰反射性シーティングを作製した。(1)リップの水平長さを12.14mmから22.45mm(0.478インチから0.884インチ)に変化させた。(2)ポリカーボネート出口スロット付近のリップ断面を薄くすることで、リップ水平断面中にヒンジを形成し、それによってリップの下流部分を垂直面において調節できるようにした。(3)このリップのポリカーボネート接触面は、2つの平面が得られるように機械加工しており、その第1の面は、工具表面からダイの分割線の外挿まで反時計回りに測定して垂直に対し89.2°の角度であり、第2の面は、工具表面からダイの分割線の外挿まで反時計回りに測定して反時計回りに垂直に対し87.6°であった。(4)ダイボルトは、ダイリップの外側または後部を押し込むように構成されており、このため、ボルトの調整によって後部リップを垂直に移動させることができたが、前部および後部ダイリップの間のポリカーボネートスロットは実質的に変化しなかった。(5)図3を参照して、寸法150が8.38mm(0.33インチ)の厚さを有し、寸法151が6.60mm(0.26インチ)の厚さを有し、寸法152が4.83mm(0.19インチ)の厚さを有し、および角度153が基準面2000に対して105°となるように、リップをP−20工具鋼から作製した。
下流リップの全体の長さが12.725mm(0.501インチ)であり、下流リップが1つの平面を含んでいる異なるスロットダイ装置を使用して、実施例1〜4で説明したものと同じ一般手順を繰り返した。この工具は、約9.74°だけ前方に傾いた薄板から複製したキューブ空隙を有するキューブコーナー空隙チャネルを含んだ。キューブ空隙の幅は0.19mm(7.5ミル)であり、これは薄板の厚さに対応しており、側溝間隔は0.127mm(5.0ミル)であった。キューブのピークは、側溝の間の中央にあり、主溝表面によって交差する薄板側部から平面図において0.1048mm(4.125ミル)に位置した。すべての側溝が、実質的に90°の開先角度を有した。主溝面は、工具表面の面によって画定される法線ベクトルに対してほぼ45°に向いていた。
