Abstract
Description
図1は、本発明の実施例によるコンピュータ・システム100の例示的構成図を示す。コンピュータ・システム100は、バス105に結合される中央処理装置(CPU)102を含む。一実施例では、CPU102は、インテル(Intel)社(本社:米国カリフォルニア州サンタクララ)から入手可能な、ペンティアム(登録商標)IIプロセッサ・ファミリ、ペンティアム(登録商標)IIIプロセッサ及びペンティアム(登録商標)IVプロセッサを含むペンティアム(登録商標)プロセッサ・ファミリにおけるプロセッサである。あるいは、インテル社のエックススケール(XScale)プロセッサ、インテル社のバニアス(Banias)・プロセッサ、アーム(ARM)社(本社:英国ケンブリッジ)から入手可能なアーム(ARM)・プロセッサ、又はテキサス・インストゥルメント(Texas Instruments)社(本社:米国テキサス州ダラス)から入手可能なオーマップ(OMAP)プロセッサなどの他のCPUを用い得る。

Claims (29)
- 電力管理方法であって:
画像データを受信する工程;
該受信画像データに対するセグメント・モードを判定する工程;
該判定セグメント・モードに相当する受信画像データ部分を選択する工程;
該受信画像データの該選択部分の値をアキュミュレートする工程;
該アキュミュレート値を閾値と比較する工程;及び
該アキュミュレート値が該閾値を超える場合に割り込み信号を生成する工程を備えることを特徴とする電力管理方法。 - 請求項1記載の方法であって、更に、該割り込み信号をソフトウェア・モジュールに供給してディスプレイの輝度を制御する工程を含むことを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項2記載の方法であって、該ソフトウェア・モジュールが、該ディスプレイの該輝度を周囲光センサ情報に基づいて制御することを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項2記載の方法であって、該ディスプレイが、LCDとフラットパネル・ディスプレイとプラズマ画面とを備える群から選択されることを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項1記載の方法であって、該画像データがRGBとYUVとを備える群から選択される形式のものであることを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項1記載の方法であって、更に、該選択する工程前に該受信画像データのY関数を計算する工程を含むことを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項6記載の方法であって、RGB形式の画像データについての該Y関数が:
0.299*R+0.587*G+0.114*B;
によって計算されることを特徴とする方法。 - 請求項6記載の方法であって、RGB形式の画像データについての該Y関数が:
(1/4+1/32+1/64)*R+(1/2+1/16+1/64+1/128)*G+(1/8)*B;
によって計算されることを特徴とする方法。 - 請求項1記載の方法であって、更に、該受信画像データの各フレームの終わりでステータス・レジスタを更新する工程を含むことを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項1記載の方法であって、該アキュミュレートする工程がカウンタ群によって行われることを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項1記載の方法であって、該受信画像データ部分が受信画像データ全体に及ぶことを特徴とする方法。
- コンピュータ・システムであって:
中央処理装置(CPU);
該CPUに結合されるチップセット;
画像を表示するフラットパネル・ディスプレイ;及び
該フラットパネル・ディスプレイと該チップセットとに結合されて、画像輝度を増加させ、該フラットパネル・ディスプレイの電力消費を削減するようバックライト輝度を低減させるバックライト変調回路を備えることを特徴とするコンピュータ・システム。 - 請求項12記載のコンピュータ・システムであって、約30%から約70%までの電力消費削減を達成するよう該バックライト輝度が低減されることを特徴とするコンピュータ・システム。
- 請求項12記載のコンピュータ・システムであって、該バックライト変調回路が:
比較器群と、
該比較器群に結合される閾値レジスタ及びアキュミュレータ群を含み;
該アキュミュレータ群によって供給される値が該閾値レジスタによって供給される閾値を超える場合に割り込み信号を生成することを特徴とするコンピュータ・システム。 - 請求項14記載のコンピュータ・システムであって、更に、セグメント・モード・レジスタを含んで、該フラットパネル・ディスプレイ上に表示される対象の受信画像データ部分を選択することを特徴とするコンピュータ・システム。
- 請求項12記載のコンピュータ・システムであって、更に、イネーブル・レジスタを含んで割り込み信号の生成をイネーブルすることを特徴とするコンピュータ・システム。
- 請求項12記載のコンピュータ・システムであって、更に、マスク・レジスタを含んで割り込み信号の生成をイネーブルすることを特徴とするコンピュータ・システム。
- 請求項12記載のコンピュータ・システムであって、更に、ステータス・レジスタを含んで、該バックライト変調回路が処理する画像データのフレームの終わりを示すことを特徴とするコンピュータ・システム。
- 製造物品であって:
マシンによって実行される場合、該マシンに動作を行わせることになる命令を備えるマシン判読可能媒体を備え;
該動作が:
画像データを受信する工程;
該受信画像データに対するセグメント・モードを判定する工程;
該判定セグメント・モードに相当する受信画像データ部分を選択する工程;
該受信画像データの該選択部分の値をアキュミュレートする工程;
該アキュミュレート値を閾値と比較する工程;及び
該アキュミュレート値が該閾値を超える場合に割り込み信号を生成する工程を備えることを特徴とする製造物品。 - 請求項19記載の物品であって、該動作が更に、該割り込み信号をソフトウェア・モジュールに供給してディスプレイの輝度を制御する工程を含むことを特徴とする物品。
- 請求項20記載の物品であって、該ソフトウェア・モジュールが、該ディスプレイの該輝度を周囲光センサ情報に基づいて制御することを特徴とする物品。
- 請求項20記載の物品であって、該ディスプレイが、LCDとフラットパネル・ディスプレイとプラズマ画面とを備える群から選択されることを特徴とする物品。
- 請求項19記載の物品であって、該画像データがRGBとYUVとを備える群から選択される形式のものであることを特徴とする物品。
- 請求項19記載の物品であって、該動作が更に、該選択する工程前に該受信画像データのY関数を計算する工程を含むことを特徴とする物品。
- 請求項24記載の物品であって、RGB形式の画像データについての該Y関数が:
