Abstract
Description
1)約820nmのリタデーションをもつ標準的なフィルム補償型スーパーツイストネマチック(FSTN)ディスプレイ。
2)内部リフレクタと約820nmのリタデーションを備えた240°のねじれの従来型のノーマリホワイト方式スーパーツイストネマチック(NW STN)ディスプレイ。
3)内部リフレクタ(図4を参照のこと)と550nmのリタデーションと前面偏光角αfp=50°を備えた本発明による低リタデーション型スーパーツイストネマチック(LRE STN)(以下で詳述)。
4)内部リフレクタ(図4を参照のこと)と600nmのリタデーションと前面偏光角αfp=55°を備えた本発明による低リタデーション型スーパーツイストネマチック(LRE STN)(以下で詳述)。
5)内部リフレクタ(図4を参照のこと)と650nmのリタデーションと前面偏光角αfp=60°を備えた本発明による低リタデーション型スーパーツイストネマチック(LRE STN)(以下で詳述)。
6)内部リフレクタ(図4を参照のこと)と700nmのリタデーションと前面偏光角αfp=65°を備えた本発明による低リタデーション型スーパーツイストネマチック(LRE_STN)(以下で詳述)。
Claims (8)
- 前面基板と背面基板との間に挿まれた液晶層を本質的に含む液晶セルと、
前記背面基板に近接して配置され、少なくとも部分的に反射性のあるフィルムと、
前記前面基板の観察者側に配置され、1層以上の光学フィルムを含む前面光学スタックと、
を具備し、
前記前面光学スタックが本質的に偏光子および任意的な光散乱フィルムにより構成される、
多重動作用のノーマリホワイト方式スーパーツイストネマチック液晶表示装置。 - 前記液晶層のリタデーションが500−750nmのレンジに収まることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記少なくとも部分的に反射性のあるフィルムが当該表示装置の反射動作を可能にさせる反射膜であることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の表示装置。
- 前記少なくとも部分的に反射性のあるフィルムが当該表示装置の半透過動作を可能にさせる半透過膜であることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の表示装置。
- 前記液晶層の背面側に配置され、1層以上の光学フィルムを含む背面光学スタックをさらに具備することを特徴とする請求項4に記載の表示装置。
- 前記背面光学スタックが、背面偏光子と、前記背面偏光子と前記液晶セルとの間に配置された補償フィルムとを含むことを特徴とする請求項5に記載の表示装置。
- 前記少なくとも部分的に反射性のあるフィルムが前記前面基板と前記背面基板との間にセル内の内部リフレクタとして配置されることを特徴とする請求項1から6のいずれか一項に記載の表示装置。
- 前記少なくとも部分的に反射性のあるフィルムが本質的に前記背面基板に隣接して前記背面光学スタックに配置されることを特徴とする請求項1から7のいずれか一項に記載の表示装置。
