Abstract
【解決手段】トナーとして好適に適応しうる組成物は、重合開始剤および不飽和スルホポリエステルアミン樹脂を含む。不飽和スルホポリエステルアミン樹脂は、好ましくは(i)アミン残基と、(ii)アルカリスルホネート残基と、(iii)不飽和残基と、を含む。また、好ましくは、不飽和スルホポリエステルアミン樹脂は、次の化学式で表される。
前記化学式において、Aは、アリーレンであり、Bは、有機アルカリスルホネートであり、Cは、不飽和アルケンであり、Rは、アルキレンであり、l,m,nは、それぞれ、セグメント数を表す。

Description
機械式の二重タービン撹拌器(mechanical double turbine agitator)、蒸留装置および底部ドレインバルブ(bottom drain valve)を取り付けた1リットル容のパール・リアクタ(Parr Reactor)に、テレフタル酸ジメチル(dimethyl terephthalate)(263g)、フマル酸(27.75g)、5−スルホ−イソフタル酸ジメチル(dimethyl 5−sulfo−isophthalate)のナトリウム塩(38.5g)、1,2−プロパンジオール(243g)、ジエチレングリコール(36.3g)、N−フェニルジエタノールアミン(2.9g)、ファスキャット・4100(fascat 4100)(1g)、およびヒドロキノン(0.2g)を仕込んだ。このリアクタを、(架橋を防止するために)二酸化炭素でパージしながら加熱して、温度約140℃とすると、固形分が溶融した。撹拌器の回転速度は約100rpmとした。次いで、反応器の温度を20分かけて165℃まで上げると、そこでメタノール/水の副生物の留去が始まった。次いで、3時間かけて反応温度を190℃まで徐々に上げていき、撹拌器の速度も200rpmまで上げた。次いで温度を200℃まで上げ、圧力を2時間かけて大気圧から約1トール(torr、1トールは約133.32パスカル)まで徐々に下げ、その条件でさらに2時間保ってから、二酸化炭素を用いて反応器を加圧して大気圧とし、その反応混合物を、底部ドレインバルブを通して、冷却した金属製のパンの中に排出した。(そのパンは、その外側をドライアイスを用いて冷却した。)次いでその樹脂(つまり、反応混合物)の物性測定をすると、Tg(立上り(onset))が52℃、軟化点が137℃であった。この樹脂を、以下、不飽和樹脂Aとする。
機械式の二重タービン撹拌器、蒸留装置および底部ドレインバルブを取り付けた1リットル容のパール・リアクタに、テレフタル酸ジメチル(263g)、フマル酸(27.75g)、5−スルホ−イソフタル酸ジメチルのナトリウム塩(41g)、1,2−プロパンジオール(249g)、ジエチレングリコール(31.3g)、N−フェニルジエタノールアミン(2.9g)、ファスキャット・4100(1g)、およびヒドロキノン(0.2g)を仕込んだ。この反応器を、(架橋を防止するために)二酸化炭素でパージしながら加熱していき、温度約140℃とすると、固形分が溶融した。撹拌器の回転速度は約100rpmとした。次いで、リアクタの温度を20分かけて165℃まで上げると、そこでメタノール/水の副生物の留去が始まった。次いで、3時間かけて反応温度を190℃まで徐々に上げていき、撹拌器の速度も200rpmまで上げた。次いで温度を200℃まで上げ、圧力を2時間かけて大気圧から約1トールまで徐々に下げ、その条件でさらに2時間保ってから、二酸化炭素を用いて反応器を加圧して大気圧とし、その反応混合物を、底部ドレインバルブを通して、冷却した金属製のパンの中に排出した。(そのパンは、その外側をドライアイスを用いて冷却した。)次いでその樹脂(つまり、反応混合物)の物性測定をすると、Tg(立上り)が61℃、軟化点が155℃であった。この樹脂を、以下、不飽和樹脂Bとする。
機械的撹拌器(mechanical stirrer)、マントルヒータ(heating mantle)、蒸留装置を取り付けた1リットル容のケトルに、1リットルの水を入れ、加熱して60℃とした。不飽和樹脂A(105g)および熱重合開始剤(thermal initiator)であるバゾ・88(VAZO 88)(2g)を1500gのアセトンに溶解させた溶液を、3時間かけて滴下により添加した。その混合物の加熱をさらに2時間続けてから、冷却すると、粒径(particle size)が54nmのエマルションが得られた。
機械的撹拌器、マントルヒータ、蒸留装置を取り付けた1リットル容のケトルに、1リットルの水を入れ、加熱して60℃とした。結晶性樹脂(30g)と熱重合開始剤のBPO(5.28g)を300gのアセトンに溶解させた溶液を、1時間かけて滴下により添加した。その混合物の加熱をさらに2時間続けてから、冷却すると、粒径62.7nmのエマルションが得られた。
Claims (5)
- 重合開始剤および不飽和スルホポリエステルアミン樹脂を含む、組成物。
- 前記不飽和スルホポリエステルアミン樹脂は、
(i)アミン残基と、
(ii)アルカリスルホネート残基と、
(iii)不飽和残基と、
を含む、請求項1に記載の組成物。 - トナー組成物を調製するプロセスであって、
(a)不飽和スルホポリエステルアミン樹脂からの粒子を含むラテックスエマルションを調製する工程と、
(b)前記ラテックスエマルションを、着色剤分散体および重合開始剤分散体と組み合わせる工程と、
(c)それにフロキュレーティング剤を添加し、混合物を前記不飽和スルホポリエステルアミン樹脂のガラス転移温度よりは低い温度に加熱する工程と、
(d)前記不飽和スルホポリエステルアミン樹脂を含む前記ラテックスエマルションを、前記不飽和スルホポリエステルアミン樹脂のガラス転移温度よりは低い温度に加熱した後で、前記不飽和スルホポリエステルアミン樹脂を含む前記ラテックスエマルションを、前記不飽和スルホポリエステルアミン樹脂のガラス転移温度よりも高い温度に加熱する工程と、
を含む、プロセス。 - 画像を形成する工程と、
トナー組成物を用いて前記画像を現像する工程と、
前記トナー組成物により形成された画像を基材に定着させる工程と、
を含み、
前記トナー組成物は、着色剤、重合開始剤、および不飽和スルホポリエステルアミン樹脂を含む、
画像形成プロセス。
