Abstract
【解決手段】フィルム外装電池10は、電池要素13と、電池要素に接続されたリード端子とが、リード端子の一部を突出させた状態で、電解液とともに、外装材11によって封止されて構成される。外装材11の、熱融着部14bに沿った辺の全域にわたって、外装材11の内面同士が電池要素13を介さずに直接対向し且つ互いに接合されていない余剰部15が設けられている。余剰部15は、外装材11の内部で発生したガスが蓄積され膨らむことで、外装材11の内圧の上昇を抑制する。

前記外装材の内部で発生したガスを前記外装材の変形によって蓄えるバッファ部が、前記電池要素の主面の面内方向について前記電池要素の外側に、前記外装材の熱融着によって形成された熱融着部に沿った少なくとも1辺の全域にわたって、前記熱融着部が前記外装材の前記電池要素を収納している収納部と距離を隔てて形成されることによって前記収納部と連続して設けられていることを特徴とするフィルム外装電池。
リード端子は、その材質として、Al、Cu、Ni、Ti、Fe、燐青銅、真鍮、ステンレスなどを用いることができ、必要に応じて焼き鈍し処理を施してもよい。リード端子の厚さは、0.08〜1.0mmが好ましい。
外装材としては、電解液が漏洩しないように電池要素を覆うことが可能であって柔軟性を有するものであれば特に限定されるものではないが、金属層と熱融着性樹脂層とを積層したラミネートフィルムが特に好ましく用いられる。この種のラミネートフィルムとしては、例えば、厚さ10μm〜100μmの金属箔に厚さ3μm〜200μmの熱融着性樹脂を貼りつけたものが使用できる。金属箔の材質としては、Al、Ti、Ti系合金、Fe、ステンレス、Mg系合金などが使用できる。熱融着性樹脂としては、ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレン、これらの酸変成物、ポリフェニレンサルファイド、ポリエチレンテレフタレートなどのポリエステル等、ポリアミド、エチレン−酢酸ビニル共重合体などが使用できる。
電池要素は、正極板および負極板がセパレータを介して交互に積層された構造を有していれば、積層型でも捲回型であってもよい。積層型は、それぞれ複数の正極板および負極板をセパレータを間において交互に積層し、各正極板および負極板から延びるタブを、集電部として正極板および負極板ごとにまとめ、各集電部をそれぞれリード端子に接続したものである。捲回型は、正極板、負極板、およびセパレータを帯状に形成し、これらを積層した後、捲回し、さらに圧縮して扁平状とし、正極板および負極板から延びたタブをそれぞれリード端子に接続したものである。

- リード端子が接続された電池要素と、柔軟性を有する外装材とを有し、前記外装材で前記電池要素を包囲し、前記電池要素の周囲で前記外装材の向き合った内面同士を熱融着することで、前記リード端子を前記外装材から突出させた状態で、前記電池要素を電解液とともに封止したフィルム外装電池において、
前記外装材の内部で発生したガスを前記外装材の変形によって蓄えるバッファ部が、前記電池要素の主面の面内方向について前記電池要素の外側に、前記外装材の熱融着によって形成された熱融着部に沿った少なくとも1辺の全域にわたって、前記熱融着部が前記外装材の前記電池要素を収納している収納部と距離を隔てて形成されることによって前記収納部と連続して設けられていることを特徴とするフィルム外装電池。 - 前記収納部と前記熱融着部との距離は、3mm〜15mmである、請求項1に記載のフィルム外装電池。

- 前記バッファ部は、フィルム外装電池が使用のために据え付けられた姿勢で、前記収納部が前記バッファ部よりも上方に位置しない位置に設けられている、請求項1ないし4のいずれか1項に記載のフィルム外装電池。
- 前記フィルム外装電池は略水平な面に沿って据え付けられるものであり、前記バッファ部は、前記面内方向で前記電池要素の全周に設けられている、請求項5に記載のフィルム外装電池。
- 前記フィルム外装電池は前記電池要素の厚み方向を略水平に向けた姿勢で据え付けられるものであり、前記バッファ部は前記フィルム外装電池が据え付けられた状態において前記電池要素の上方に設けられている、請求項5に記載のフィルム外装電池。
