Abstract
【解決手段】 本発明は、第一屈折層と、前記第一屈折層の屈折率と異なる第二屈折層とを有する薄膜、前記薄膜の下表面に位置され、前記第一屈折層と接する第一プリズム、及び、前記薄膜の上表面に位置され、前記薄膜を中心として前記第一プリズムと対称する第二プリズム、を含む偏光光学装置、及び、この偏光光学装置を備える液晶ディスプレイモジュールである。本発明では、入射光を薄膜干渉によってS−rayとP−rayに分けることができる、S−rayを再利用することで輝度を高めることができる。

Claims (11)
- 第一屈折層と、前記第一屈折層の屈折率と異なる第二屈折層とを有する薄膜、
前記薄膜の下表面に位置され、前記第一屈折層と接する第一プリズム、及び
前記薄膜の上表面に位置され、前記薄膜を中心として前記第一プリズムと対称する第二プリズム、を含む偏光光学装置。 - 第一プリズムは、第一屈折層から第二屈折層への光の入射角がほぼブルースター角となるように形成される請求項1に記載の偏光光学装置。
- 第二プリズムは、第二屈折層からの光が薄膜の上表面にほぼ垂線方向に屈折されるように形成される請求項1又は請求項2に記載の偏光光学装置。
- 第一屈折層と第二屈折層は、均質材質である請求項1〜請求項3のいずれか1項に記載の偏光光学装置。
- 屈折層の厚さ(T)は、光の中央波長をλ0とし、屈折層の屈折率をnとしたとき、方程式T=λ0/4nから求められる請求項1〜請求項4のいずれか1項に記載の偏光光学装置。
- 第一プリズムの屈折率は、1.52〜1.65であり、第一屈折層の屈折率は、2.0〜2.2であり、第二屈折層の屈折率は、1.38〜1.5である請求項1〜請求項5のいずれか1項に記載の偏光光学装置。
- 第一屈折率と第二屈折層が、交互に配置されており、第一屈折層と第二屈折層の数が、それぞれ3〜6である請求項1〜請求項6のいずれか1項に記載の偏光光学装置。
- 第一プリズムの屈折率は、1.62であり、第一屈折層の屈折率は、2.2であり、第二屈折層の屈折率は、1.38である請求項1〜請求項7のいずれか1項に記載の偏光光学装置。
- 第一プリズムの頂角は、56度である請求項8に記載の偏光光学装置。
- 第一屈折層と第二屈折層が交互に配置されており、第一屈折層と第二屈折層の数はいずれも3である請求項1〜請求項9のいずれか1項に記載の偏光光学装置。
- バックライトモジュール、及び、前記バックライトモジュールに配置された液晶パネルを含み、
前記バックライトモジュールは、請求項1〜請求項10のいずれか1項に記載の偏光光学装置を含む液晶ディスプレイモジュール。
