Abstract
【課題】 不要な電流を除去して電力消費を低減させ、表示画面の均一性を向上させる有機電界発光表示装置とその駆動方法に関する。
【解決手段】 有機電界発光表示装置は、複数のデータラインと複数のスキャンラインとが交差し、その交差部に電界発光素子が配置される表示パネルで、予備充電駆動部22は、N−1番目に表現しようとするデジタルビデオデータの階調に対するデータ電流が放電される際に、N番目に表現しようとするデジタルビデオデータの階調を検出する。検出されたデジタルビデオデータの階調に対応する予備充電電流を計算し、前記計算された予備充電電流を電界発光素子に供給する予備充電駆動部22と、前記予備充電電流によって充電された電界発光素子にデータを供給するデータ駆動部24と、前記データに同期されるスキャンパルスを前記スキャンラインに供給するためのスキャン駆動部26とを備える。

Claims (6)
- 複数のデータラインと複数のスキャンラインとが交差し、その交差部に電界発光素子が配置される表示パネルと、
N−1番目に表現しようとするデジタルビデオデータの階調に対するデータ電流が放電される際に、N番目に表現しようとするデジタルビデオデータの階調を検出し、検出された前記デジタルビデオデータの階調に対応する予備充電電流を計算し、前記計算された予備充電電流を前記電界発光素子に供給する予備充電駆動部と、
前記予備充電電流によって充電された前記電界発光素子にデータを供給するデータ駆動部と、
前記データに同期し、スキャンパルスを前記スキャンラインに供給するためのスキャン駆動部とを備えることを特徴とする有機電界発光表示装置。 - 前記予備充電駆動部は、前記デジタルビデオデータの階調に従って、互いに異なるレベルを有する予備充電電流を前記電界発光素子に供給することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記予備充電駆動部は、表現しようとする前記デジタルビデオデータの階調をアナログ電流に変換させるためのデータ変換部と、
前記データ変換部から変換されたアナログ電流に対応する予備充電電流を計算するための予備充電電流計算部とを備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。 - 前記予備充電電流は、表現しようとするデータの電流と前記予備充電電流の最大値を掛けた後、前記データ電流の最大値で割った値であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 複数のデータラインと複数のスキャンラインとが交差し、その交差部に電界発光素子が配置される有機電界発光表示装置の駆動方法において、
N−1番目のデータ電流が放電される際にN番目に表現しようとするデジタルビデオデータの階調を検出する段階と、
前記検出されたデジタルビデオデータの階調をそれに対応するレベルのアナログ電流に変換する段階と、
前記変換されたアナログ電流を利用して予備充電電流を計算する段階と、
前記計算された予備充電電流を前記データラインを経由して電界発光素子に供給する段階と、
前記予備充電電流によって充電された前記電界発光素子にデータを供給する段階とを含むことを特徴とする有機電界発光表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記予備充電電流を計算する段階は、変換されたアナログ電流と前記予備充電電流の最大値を掛けた後、前記データ電流の最大値で割ることを特徴とする請求項5に記載の有機電界発光表示装置の駆動方法。
