Abstract

Claims (10)
- 無線通信のためのポータブルコンピューティング装置(100)であって、
公衆無線ワイドエリアネットワーク(WWAN)と通信するための第1のネットワークインターフェース(102)と、
私設無線ローカルエリアネットワーク(WLAN)と通信するための第2のネットワークインターフェース(103)と、
ソフトウエア命令(105)の制御下で動作するプロセッサ(101)とを備え、前記ソフトウエア命令はゲートウエイプロトコルを定義し、該ゲートウエイプロトコルは、前記公衆WWANにおいて無線の存在(wireless presence)が確立された後に、該ポータブルコンピューティング装置を前記私設WLAN内のアクセスポイントとして確立する、無線通信のためのポータブルコンピューティング装置。 - 前記ゲートウエイプロトコルは、前記ポータブルコンピューティング装置が前記公衆WWAN内に位置するときに、該公衆WWANにおいて自律的に前記無線の存在を確立する、請求項1に記載のポータブルコンピューティング装置。
- 前記ゲートウエイプロトコルは、前記私設WLAN内の装置から受信された通信パケットを前記公衆WWANを通してルーティングし、該公衆WWANから受信されたパケットを前記私設WLAN内の装置にルーティングする、請求項1に記載のポータブルコンピューティング装置。
- 前記第1のネットワークインターフェースは汎用パケット無線サービス(GPRS)インターフェースを含む、請求項1に記載のポータブルコンピューティング装置。
- 前記第2のネットワークインターフェースは802.11b通信標準規格を実施するネットワークインターフェースを含む、請求項1に記載のポータブルコンピューティング装置。
- 前記ゲートウエイプロトコルは、無線装置から、前記私設WLANに加わるための要求を受信するように動作する、請求項1に記載のポータブルコンピューティング装置。
- 無線通信のための方法であって、
ポータブルコンピューティング装置によって、公衆無線ワイドエリアネットワーク(WWAN)のサービスエリアに入ったことを検出すること(301)、および
前記ポータブルコンピューティング装置によって、私設無線ローカルエリアネットワーク(WLAN)を確立すること(303)を含み、前記ポータブルコンピューティング装置は、前記私設WLANのための少なくとも1つのアクセスポイントサービスを実施する、無線通信のための方法。 - 前記ポータブルコンピューティング装置によって、前記公衆WWANと前記私設WLANとの間でパケットトラフィックをルーティングすることをさらに含む、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 前記ポータブルコンピューティング装置によって、前記私設WLANに加わるために要求を出している無線装置の識別情報を認証すること(305)をさらに含む、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 前記要求を出している無線装置の前記認証される識別情報と前記ポータブルコンピューティング装置のメモリに記憶された識別子とを比較すること(306)をさらに含む、請求項9に記載の方法。
