Abstract
【解決手段】鉛蓄電池において、電解液中に還元性有機物を0.5mg/L以上3mg/L以下の濃度で含むことを特徴とする。

(酸素の濃度)=f×0.01×8×(a−b)×1000/V (mg/L)
なお、過マンガン酸カリウムは、次の反応式に従って被酸化性物質(上記有機物)を酸化する。
上記酸素の濃度をもって、本発明での還元性有機物の濃度と称する。
なお、この所定添加量は実際に電池に添加した後の電解液を分析し、測定した後の値である。前述したように、メタノールは電解酸化によって分解するために、計算上で添加した量と実際に測定した量とでは、値が変わってしまうので、添加量と測定量の関係を求め、それをもとに、元の添加量を算出した。測定値と添加量の関係を表1に示す。
[実施例1〜5および比較例1〜3]
[実施例1]
電解液中のメタノール濃度を0.3mg/Lとした鉛蓄電池を作製し、これを実施例1の鉛蓄電池とした。
電解液中のメタノール濃度を0.5mg/Lとした鉛蓄電池を作製し、これを実施例2の鉛蓄電池とした。
電解液中のメタノール濃度を1.0mg/Lとした鉛蓄電池を作製し、これを実施例3の鉛蓄電池とした。
電解液中のメタノール濃度を2.0mg/Lとした鉛蓄電池を作製し、これを実施例4の鉛蓄電池とした。
電解液中のメタノール濃度を3.0mg/Lとした鉛蓄電池を作製し、これを実施例5の鉛蓄電池とした。
電解液中にメタノールを添加しなかった鉛蓄電池を作製し、これを比較例1の鉛蓄電池とした。
電解液中のメタノール濃度を0.1mg/Lとした鉛蓄電池を作製し、これを比較例2の鉛蓄電池とした。
電解液中のメタノール濃度を4.0mg/Lとした鉛蓄電池を作製し、これを比較例3の鉛蓄電池とした。
表2から、実施例1〜5の本発明品(メタノールを酸素濃度で0.3〜3.0mg/L添加したもの)は、メタノールを添加していない比較例1およびメタノールを酸素濃度で0.1mg/L添加した比較例2と比較して、約4〜7%の5時間率放電容量の向上が認められた。一方、メタノールを酸素濃度で4.0mg/Lとした比較例3の5時間率放電容量は実施例1と同等であった。
さらに、実施例6では、5時間率公称容量が36AhであるB24サイズ(12V)の液式鉛蓄電池を、浸透剤と称される添加剤や、フェノール樹脂、オイル等の添加剤を調整した多孔性ポリエチレン製セパレータを用いて、通常の方法で作成し、それについて、還元性有機物濃度を調べるとともに、容量及び寿命試験を実施した。

- 電解液中に0.5mg/L以上3mg/L以下の還元性有機物を含むことを特徴とする鉛蓄電池。
