Abstract
【解決手段】 ホストと、ドーパントのリン光発光分子と、前記ホストからエネルギーを受けるか、または直接エネルギーをトラッピングしてドーパントにエネルギーを伝達するか、または自ら発光する蛍光サポータより構成されたEMLと、を備える有機電界発光素子である。蛍光サポータの発光スペクトルとリン光発光分子の吸収スペクトルとは、一部または全体がオーバーラップされる。本発明の有機電界発光素子は、従来のリン光ドーパントとホストとより構成されたEMLを有する有機電界発光素子と比較して、発光効率及び色純度特性が改善される。そして、このようなシステムは、特に青色発光のための素子に有用である。

Description
ITOがコーティングされた透明電極基板をきれいに洗浄した後、ITOを感光性樹脂とエッチング液とを利用してパターニングしてITO電極パターンを形成し、これを再びきれいに洗浄した。このように洗浄された結果物上にBatron P 4083(Bayer社)PEDOT:PSSを約500Åの厚さにコーティングした後、110℃で約10分間ベーキングしてHILを形成した。
EML形成用の組成物がホスト物質であるPVK 100重量部にリン光ドーパントであるFirpic 6.6重量部を混合して発光材料を準備し、この発光材料0.1重量部をクロロベンゼン10mLに溶解して得ることを除いては、実施例1と同じ方法によって実施して有機電界発光素子を製作した。
EML形成用の組成物が、ホスト物質であるPVK 100重量部にサポータであるスピロホモポリマー6.6重量部を混合して発光材料として準備し、この発光材料0.1重量部をクロロベンゼン10mLに溶解して得たことを除いては、実施例1と同じ方法によって実施して有機電界発光素子を製作した。

- 一対の電極間に発光層を含む有機電界発光素子において、
前記発光層が、
ホストと、
ドーパントであるリン光発光分子と、
前記ホストからエネルギーを受けるか、または直接エネルギーをトラッピングして、リン光発光分子にエネルギーを伝達するか、または自ら発光する蛍光サポータと、
を含むことを特徴とする有機電界発光素子。 - 前記サポータの基底状態と一重項状態との間のエネルギーバンドギャップは、リン光発光分子の基底状態と三重項状態との間のエネルギーバンドギャップと同じであるか、またはそれよりも大きいことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光素子。
- 前記サポータの基底状態と一重項状態との間のエネルギーバンドギャップは、2.0ないし3.5eVであり、リン光発光分子の基底状態と三重項状態との間のエネルギーバンドギャップは、1.9ないし3.0eVであることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の有機電界発光素子。
- 前記サポータの発光スペクトルは、前記リン光発光分子の吸収スペクトルと部分的にまたは全体的にオーバーラップされることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光素子。
- 前記サポータの発光ピークは、350ないし650nmに表れ、前記リン光発光分子の吸収ピークは、200ないし700nmの領域に表れることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の有機電界発光素子。
- 前記リン光発光分子は、エネルギーを直接トラッピングするか、あるいはホストまたはサポータから受けることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光素子。
- 前記リン光発光分子の含量は、ホスト100重量部に対して0.5ないし20重量部であり、前記サポータの含量は、ホスト100重量部に対して1ないし50重量部であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光素子。
- 前記ホストは、mCP(N,N′−ジカルバゾリル−3,5−ベンゼン)、ポリビニルカルバゾール(PVK)、ポリフルオレン、CBP(4,4′−N,N′−ジカルバゾール−ビフェニル)、4,4′−ビス[9−(3,6ビフェニルカルバゾリル)]−1−1,1′−ビフェニル、9,10−ビス[(2′,7′−t−ブチル)−9′,9′′−スピロビフルオレニルアントラセン、テトラフルオレン、ポリメチルメタクリレート、ポリスチレンからなる群より選択された一つ以上であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光素子。
