Abstract
【解決手段】 NOx還元触媒に供給される液体が貯蔵される貯蔵タンクに、離間した2点間の熱伝達特性により液体還元剤の濃度を検出する濃度センサを取り付ける。そして、濃度センサから濃度を読み込み(S1)、その濃度が0%以下であれば液体は水であると判別する(S2,S3)。即ち、水を液体還元剤の濃度に換算すると0%であり、対流によって濃度が低下しても0%以下であることを利用する。また、濃度が所定濃度より大きければ(S4)、貯蔵タンク内の液体が空であるため濃度センサの出力が異常となったと考えられるので、液体は空であると判別する(S6)。一方、濃度が0%より大きくかつ所定濃度以下であれば(S2,S4)、濃度に誤差が含まれる可能性があるものの、液体は液体還元剤であると判別する(S5)。

Description
かかる排気浄化装置は、エンジン排気系にNOx還元触媒を配設し、NOx還元触媒の排気上流に還元剤を噴射供給することにより、排気中のNOxと還元剤とを触媒還元反応させて、NOxを無害成分に浄化処理するものである。還元剤は、常温において液体状態で貯蔵タンクに貯蔵され、エンジン運転状態に対応した必要量が噴射ノズルから噴射供給される。また、還元反応は、NOxと反応性が良好なアンモニアを用いるもので、還元剤としては、排気熱及び排気中の水蒸気により加水分解してアンモニアを容易に発生する尿素水溶液,アンモニア水溶液,その他の還元剤水溶液(以下「液体還元剤」という)が用いられる。
請求項3記載の発明では、前記判別手段による判別結果を可視的に表示する表示手段が備えられたことを特徴とする。
請求項2記載の発明によれば、液体還元剤の濃度が0%以下になっても、直ぐ貯蔵タンク内の液体が空になったと判別せず、その回数が所定回数以上になったときに初めて空になったと判別される。このため、ノイズなどに起因する誤判別が低減し、液体判別精度を向上させることができる。
図1は、本発明に係る液体判別装置を備えた排気浄化装置の構成を示す。
エンジン10の排気は、排気マニフォールド12からNOx還元触媒14が配設された排気管16を経由して大気中に排出される。詳細には、排気管16には、排気上流側から順に、一酸化窒素(NO)の酸化触媒,NOxの還元触媒及びスリップ式アンモニア酸化触媒の3つの触媒が配設され、その前後に温度センサ,酸素センサなどが配設されて排気系が構成されるが、詳細には図示していない。また、NOx還元触媒14の排気上流には、貯蔵タンク18に貯蔵される液体還元剤が、還元剤供給装置20及び噴射ノズル22を経由して、空気と共に噴射供給される。ここで、液体還元剤としては、本実施形態では尿素水溶液を用いるが、アンモニア水溶液並びに炭化水素を主成分とする軽油,石油又はガソリンなどを用いるようにしてもよい。
また、貯蔵タンク18には、尿素水溶液の濃度を検出する濃度センサ32(濃度検出手段)が取り付けられる。即ち、貯蔵タンク18の天壁に、回路基板が内蔵された基部32Aが固定されると共に、基部32Aから貯蔵タンク18底部へと検出部32Bが垂下される。
ステップ1(図では「S1」と略記する。以下同様)では、濃度センサ32から尿素水溶液の濃度を読み込む。
ステップ2では、尿素水溶液の濃度が0%以下であるか否かを判定する。そして、尿素水溶液の濃度が0%以下であればステップ3へと進み(Yes)、貯蔵タンク18内の液体は水であると判別する。一方、尿素水溶液の濃度が0%より大きければステップ4へと進む(No)。ここで、検出濃度が0%以下となる理由は、離間した2点間の熱伝達特性から所定規則により濃度を算出するためであり、実際に尿素水溶液の濃度がマイナスになるわけではない。

Claims (3)
- エンジン排気系に配設された窒素酸化物還元触媒に供給される液体が貯蔵される貯蔵タンク内で、離間した2点間の熱伝達特性により液体還元剤の濃度を検出する濃度検出手段と、
前記濃度検出手段により検出された濃度が、0%以下,0%より大きくかつ所定濃度以下及び所定濃度より大きいときに、前記貯蔵タンク内の液体は、夫々、水,液体還元剤及び空であると判別する判別手段と、
を含んで構成されたことを特徴とする液体判別装置。 - 前記濃度検出手段により検出された濃度が0%以下となった回数を計数する計数手段を備え、
前記判別手段は、前記計数手段により計数された回数が所定回数以上になったときに、前記貯蔵タンク内の液体は水であると判別することを特徴とする請求項1記載の液体判別装置。 - 前記判別手段による判別結果を可視的に表示する表示手段が備えられたことを特徴とする請求項1又は請求項2に記載の液体判別装置。
