Abstract
【解決手段】データ電極ラインと走査電極ラインとがそれぞれ所定間隔をおいて互いに交差するように形成されて、この交差領域に電界発光セルが形成される電界発光ディスプレイパネルについて、現在の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号のそれぞれとその次の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号のそれぞれとの変化ベクトルに対応するブーティング電流を前記その次の水平駆動時間の初期にデータ電極ラインのそれぞれに印加する電界発光ディスプレイパネルの駆動方法及び装置である。ここで、ブーティング電流の瞬時値が常にほぼ一定であり、ブーティング電流のそれぞれの印加時間が現在の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号のそれぞれとその次の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号のそれぞれとの変化量に比例する。

Claims (8)
- データ電極ラインと走査電極ラインとがそれぞれ所定間隔をおいて互いに交差するように形成され、その交差領域に電界発光セルが形成された電界発光ディスプレイパネルについて、現在の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号のそれぞれとその次の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号それぞれとの変化ベクトルに対応するブーティング電流を前記その次の水平駆動時間の初期に前記データ電極ラインのそれぞれに印加する電界発光ディスプレイパネルの駆動方法において、
前記ブーティング電流の瞬時値が常にほぼ一定であり、前記ブーティング電流のそれぞれの印加時間が現在の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号のそれぞれとその次の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号のそれぞれとの変化量に比例していることを特徴とする電界発光ディスプレイパネルの駆動方法。 - 現在の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号よりその次の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号が大きい場合は、前記ブーティング電流の方向が前記電界発光セルに対して順方向であり、
現在の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号よりその次の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号がより小さい場合は、前記ブーティング電流の方向が前記電界発光セルに対して逆方向であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電界発光ディスプレイパネルの駆動方法。 - 現在の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号とその次の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号とが同じである場合は、前記ブーティング電流を印加しないことを特徴とする請求項2に記載の電界発光ディスプレイパネルの駆動方法。
- データ電極ラインと走査電極ラインとがそれぞれ所定間隔をおいて互いに交差するように形成され、その交差領域に電界発光セルが形成される電界発光ディスプレイパネルに関し、現在の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号のそれぞれとその次の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号のそれぞれとの変化ベクトルに対応するブーティング電流を前記その次の水平駆動時間の初期に前記データ電極ラインのそれぞれに印加する電界発光ディスプレイパネルの駆動装置において、
前記ブーティング電流の瞬時値が常にほぼ一定であり、前記ブーティング電流のそれぞれの印加時間が現在の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号のそれぞれとその次の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号のそれぞれとの変化量に比例していることを特徴とする電界発光ディスプレイパネルの駆動装置。 - 前記データ電極ラインの信号入力端に連結され、入力されるスイッチング制御信号によりディスプレイデータ信号に対応するデータ電流信号を生成して前記データ電極ラインに印加し、それぞれの水平駆動周期の初期に前記ブーティング電流を前記データ電極ラインに印加するデータ駆動部と、
入力されるスイッチング制御信号による走査駆動信号を前記走査電極ラインのそれぞれに順次印加する走査駆動部と、
前記データ駆動部に前記ディスプレイデータ信号及び前記スイッチング制御信号を入力し、前記走査駆動部にスイッチング制御信号を入力する制御部とを含む請求項4に記載の電界発光ディスプレイパネルの駆動装置。 - 前記データ駆動部が、
前記制御部からのディスプレイデータ信号を周期的に保持する一方、現在の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号のそれぞれとその次の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号のそれぞれとを周期的に出力するラッチ回路と、
前記ラッチ回路からの現在の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号のそれぞれを前記データ電流信号に変換するデジタル−アナログ変換器と、
前記ラッチ回路からの現在の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号のそれぞれとその次の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号のそれぞれとを比較して前記ブーティング電流を前記データ電極ラインに印加し、前記デジタル−アナログ変換器からのデータ電流信号を前記データ電極ラインに印加する出力回路とを含む請求項5に記載の電界発光ディスプレイパネルの駆動装置。 - 前記ラッチ回路が、
水平同期信号に従って、自己が保持しているディスプレイデータ信号を出力し、前記制御部からのディスプレイデータ信号を保持する(n+1)データレジスタと、
前記水平同期信号に従って、自己が保持しているディスプレイデータ信号を出力し、前記(n+1)データレジスタそれぞれからのディスプレイデータ信号を保持するnデータラッチとを含む請求項6に記載の電界発光ディスプレイパネルの駆動装置。 - 前記出力回路が、
前記ラッチ回路からの現在の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号のそれぞれとその次の水平駆動時間のディスプレイデータ信号のそれぞれとを比較し、増加又は減少を示す増減信号、及び増減量を示す増減量信号を発生するデジタル比較器と、
その瞬時値が常にほぼ一定であり、前記デジタル比較器からの増減信号に従って極性が変わるブーティング電流を出力する電流源と、
前記電流源のそれぞれから出力されるブーティング電流のそれぞれをスイッチングするブーティング電流スイッチと、
前記デジタル比較器からの増減量信号のそれぞれに従って前記ブーティング電流スイッチのそれぞれの動作タイミングを制御するタイミング信号発生器と、
前記ブーティング電流スイッチの出力信号と前記デジタルアナログ変換器からの出力信号とを交互に選択し、選択した出力信号を前記データ電極ラインに印加する出力電流スイッチとを含む請求項6に記載の電界発光ディスプレイパネルの駆動装置。
