Abstract
【解決手段】本発明によるベンドセルを利用した反射型または透過型CCF液晶表示装置によれば、ベンドセル構造の基本特性である応答速度改善及び視野角特性を向上させることができ、電圧大きさによってλ/4、3/4・λ位相差値を有するベンドセルを広帯域QWP役割を有する液晶層を利用して別途の広帯域QWPを省略することができ、CCFの色特性効果をそのまま維持することができる。また、別途の位相差補償フィルムの省略を通じて、位相差補償フィルムを形成するフィルム付着による製品不良要因を除去することができ、製品信頼度を高めることができる長所を有する。

Description
例えば、平均屈折率が1.5であるCLC液晶のピッチが430nmである場合に、中心反射波長は、大略650nmになって赤色を帯びるようになる。その他に緑色と青色に対しては適していたCLC液晶のピッチを与えることによって具現することができる。
−−実施の形態1−−
図6は、本発明の実施の形態1による反射型CCF液晶表示装置に対する概略的な断面図である。図示したように、第1基板210、第2基板250が相互に一定間隔離隔されるように配置されている。第1基板210内部面には光吸収層212が形成されていて、光吸収層212上部にはCCF214が形成されている。CCF214上部には第1透明電極216が形成されていて、第1透明電極216上部には第1配向膜218が形成されている。
図9は、本発明の実施の形態2による透過型CCF液晶表示装置の概略的な断面図である。図示したように、相互に一定間隔離隔されるように第1基板310、第2基板350が配置されている。第1基板310内部面には第1CCF物質層312a、第2CCF物質層312bが順次積層されてCCF312が形成され、CCF312上部には第1透明電極314が形成されている。第1透明電極314上部には第1配向膜316が形成されており、第1基板310の背面には第1偏光板320が位置している。
Claims (13)
- 相互に一定間隔離隔されるように配置された第1基板、第2基板と;
前記第1基板内部面に形成された光吸収層と;
前記光吸収層上部に形成されて、特定波長帯の光を選択的に反射させる赤、緑、青コレステリック液晶カラーフィルターで構成されたコレステリック液晶カラーフィルター層と;
前記コレステリック液晶カラーフィルター層上部に形成された第1透明電極と;
前記第1透明電極上部に形成された第1配向膜と;
前記第2基板内部面に配置する第2透明電極と;
前記第2透明電極下部に配置し、前記第1配向膜と実質的に同一な配向方向を有する第2配向膜と;
前記第2基板外部面に配置する偏光板と;
前記第1配向膜と第2配向膜との間に介在し、一定電圧印加時ベンド構造を有するベンドセルで構成された液晶層とを含むことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 相互に一定間隔離隔されるように配置された第1基板、第2基板と;
前記第1基板内部面に形成され、特定波長帯のカラーだけを選択的に透過させるコレステリック液晶カラーフィルターと;
前記コレステリック液晶カラーフィルター上部に形成された第1透明電極と;
前記第1透明電極上部に形成された第1配向膜と;
前記第2基板内部面に配置する第2透明電極と;
前記第2透明電極下部に形成され、前記第1配向膜と実質的に同一な配向方向を有する第2配向膜と;
前記第1基板の外部面に形成された第1偏光板と;
前記第2基板の外部面に形成された第2偏光板と;
前記第1偏光板背面に配置し、光を供給する光源であるバックライトユニットと;
前記第1配向膜と第2配向膜との間に介在し、一定電圧印加時ベンド構造を有するベンドセルで構成された液晶層とを含むことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記偏光板は、線偏光板で構成されたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1偏光板は、全波長範囲で左円偏光または右円偏光のうちいずれか一つの円偏光だけを選択的に反射させるコレステリック液晶で構成された偏光板であることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第2偏光板は、線偏光板で構成されたことを特徴とする請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 第1項または第2項のうち少なくともいずれか一つの項において、
前記第2基板内部面には相互に交差するように形成されたゲート配線及びデータ配線と、前記ゲート配線及びデータ配線が交差する地点に形成された薄膜トランジスタを有するアレイ素子層をさらに含むことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記アレイ素子層は、前記第2基板と第2透明電極間に配置することを特徴とする請求項6に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記偏光板と第2基板間に補償層をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第2偏光板と第2基板間に補償層をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 第1項または第2項のうち少なくともいずれか一つの項において、
前記ベンドセルで構成された液晶層は、しきい電圧印加時3/4・λの位相差値を有することを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 第1項または第2項のうち少なくともいずれか一つの項において、
前記ベンドセルで構成された液晶層は、駆動最高電圧印加時λ/4の位相差値を有することを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記コレステリック液晶カラーフィルターは、該カラー以外の相異なったカラーを選択的に反射させる特性を有する第1コレステリック液晶カラーフィルター物質層、第2コレステリック液晶カラーフィルター物質層が順次積層された構造で形成されたことを特徴とする請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 第1項または第2項のうち少なくともいずれか一つの項において、
前記第1透明電極は、共通電極に該当し、前記第2透明電極は画素電極に該当することを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
