Description

【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a terminal array cleaning device for wiping and cleaning both sides of a terminal array of an electronic component.
[0002]
[Prior art]
For example, an electronic component such as a flat panel display element has a terminal arrangement portion formed on an edge thereof and having a plurality of terminals arranged on at least one surface.
[0003]
FIG. 5 is a perspective view showing an example of an electronic component having the terminal arrangement portion, and here shows a flat panel display element.
[0004]
The display element 1 is, for example, a simple matrix type liquid crystal display element, in which a liquid crystal layer (not shown) is provided between a pair of transparent substrates 2 and 3 which are joined to each other via a frame-shaped sealing material 4. On the inner surfaces of the pair of substrates 2 and 3, a plurality of transparent scanning electrodes and a plurality of signal electrodes each forming a pixel portion by regions facing each other are formed.
[0005]
Further, a terminal array portion 2a projecting outward from the other substrate 3 is formed at one side edge of the one substrate 2 of the pair of substrates 2 and 3, and the other of the terminal array portions 2a is formed. A plurality of drive signal supply wirings 5 connected to a plurality of electrodes on the inner surfaces of the pair of substrates 2 and 3 are led out on the surface of the substrate 3 side. Is formed.
[0006]
The display element 1 has a drive circuit mounted on a surface (hereinafter, referred to as a terminal formation surface) of the terminal arrangement portion 2a on the other substrate 3 side, in which a drive circuit element (not shown) made of an LSI is mounted. A plurality of external circuit connection wirings 6 each having connection terminals formed at both ends for connecting the drive circuit element to an external circuit, on a terminal formation surface of the terminal arrangement portion 2a; The alignment mark 7 of the drive circuit element to be formed is formed.
[0007]
By the way, foreign substances such as dust and dirt adhered during the manufacturing process of the display element 1 often remain in the terminal arrangement part 2a of the display element 1, and the foreign substance adheres to the terminal formation surface of the terminal arrangement part 2a. In this case, a connection failure occurs between each terminal of the drive circuit element mounted on the terminal array portion 2a and the drive circuit connection terminals of the plurality of drive signal supply wires 5 and the external circuit connection wires 6. .
[0008]
On the other hand, foreign matter adhering to the outer surface of the terminal array portion 2a opposite to the terminal forming surface does not directly participate in the connection of the drive circuit, but foreign matter adheres to the outer surface of the terminal array portion 2a. In this case, when the drive circuit element is mounted while supporting the terminal arrangement portion 2a from the outer surface side, an error occurs in the parallelism between the terminal arrangement portion 2a and the drive circuit element, which affects the connection of the drive circuit. May be exerted.
[0009]
The positioning when the drive circuit element is mounted on the terminal array section 2a is performed by monitoring the relative position between the alignment mark 7 and the drive circuit element with a television camera from the outer surface side of the terminal array section 2a. However, if foreign matter adheres to the terminal forming surface or the outer surface of the terminal array portion 2a, the alignment mark 7 becomes difficult to see or the foreign matter is mistaken as a positioning mark, A connection failure may occur between each terminal of the drive circuit element and the drive circuit connection terminals of the plurality of drive signal supply wires 5 and the external circuit connection wires 6.
[0010]
Therefore, in order to connect the drive circuit to the display element 1 without causing a connection failure, before the connection, the terminal formation surface and the outer surface of the terminal array portion 2a of the display element 1 are wiped off and cleaned. It is necessary to remove foreign matter adhering to the surface.
[0011]
Conventionally, the terminal array portion 2a of the display element 1 is wiped and cleaned by the following cleaning device.
[0012]
6 and 7 are a side view of a conventional cleaning apparatus and a plan view of the wiping and cleaning unit, and FIG. 8 is an enlarged side view of the wiping and cleaning unit.
[0013]
This cleaning device comprises a first cleaning system 10a for wiping and cleaning the terminal forming surface of the terminal array portion 2a of the display element 1, and a second cleaning system 10b for wiping and cleaning the outer surface of the terminal array portion 2a. ing.
[0014]
The first and second cleaning systems 10 a and 10 b are respectively fed from a pay-out reel 11, wound on a take-up reel 12, and provided with a liquid-impregnated cleaning tape 13 and a take-up reel 12. A tape feed roller 14 and a pinch roller 15 for feeding and driving the cleaning tape 13; and a tape for folding the cleaning tape 13 fed from the feed reel 11 and pressing the folded portion against the terminal array portion 2a of the display element 1. A presser plate 16; a plurality of tape guide rollers 17 disposed between the tape presser plate 16 and the feed reel 11 and the take-up reel 12; a tape guide roller 17 on the feed reel 11 side; And a cleaning liquid supply nozzle for impregnating the cleaning tape 13 toward the tape holding plate 16 with the cleaning liquid. 18 is composed of a.
[0015]
The first cleaning system 10a and the second cleaning system 10b adjust the feed direction of the respective cleaning tape 13 (the length direction of the cleaning tape 13) by the transport means (not shown) of the terminal array portion 2a. With the formation surface (the surface of the display element 1 on the other substrate 3 side) facing upward, the display element 1 is transported in a direction perpendicular to the direction in which the terminal array portion 2a extends, and is orthogonal to the transport direction of the display element 1. At the same time, the tape holding plate 16 of the first cleaning system 10a faces the terminal formation surface (upper surface) of the terminal array portion 2a of the display element 1 conveyed by the conveyance means, and the second cleaning system 10b The tape pressing plate 16 is disposed so as to face the outer surface (lower surface) of the terminal arrangement portion 2a of the display element 1.
[0016]
This cleaning device wipes and cleans the terminal forming surface of the terminal array portion 2a of the display element 1 conveyed by the conveying means by the first cleaning system 10a, and cleans the outer surface of the terminal array portion 2a by the second cleaning. A cleaning tape 13 impregnated with a cleaning liquid by a cleaning liquid supply nozzle 18 is folded back by the tape holding plate 16 to clean the terminal of the display element 1 by wiping and cleaning with the cleaning system 10b. The display element 1 is conveyed in the length direction of the terminal arrangement portion 2a while pressing the cleaning tape 13 against the arrangement portion 2a while feeding and driving the cleaning tape 13, so that both surfaces of the terminal arrangement portion 2a are respectively opposed to their extending directions. This is done by wiping along a direction orthogonal to the direction.
[0017]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the above-described conventional cleaning apparatus uses the first and second two cleaning systems 10a and 10b provided with the reel 11 and the take-up reel 12 of the cleaning tape 13 and uses the first and second cleaning systems 10a and 10b. Since the terminal forming surface is wiped and cleaned by the first cleaning system 10a and the outer surface of the terminal arrangement portion 2a is wiped and cleaned by the second cleaning system 10b, the apparatus is complicated and large-scale, and the first system is large. Since two cleaning tapes 13 for the cleaning system 10a and for the second cleaning system 10b are required, there is a problem that running costs are increased.
[0018]
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to provide a terminal array cleaning apparatus which has a simple structure and can wipe and clean both sides of a terminal array at low cost.

[0047]
The tape pressing plate 45 of the second tape pressing means 32 is arranged to face the tape pressing plate 39 of the first tape pressing means 27.
[0048]
Wiping and cleaning of the terminal arrangement portion 2a of the display element 1 by this cleaning device is performed as follows.
[0049]
The display element 1 is loaded into the start end of the element transport path from the side thereof as shown by a virtual line (two-dot chain line) in FIG. 1 by an element transport means (not shown). 2a is directed to one side of the element transport path, and is held in a state where the terminal forming surface of the terminal arrangement portion 2a faces upward, and is transported along the element transport path.
[0050]
In addition, the element carrying means (not shown) sequentially carries the plurality of display elements 1 to the starting end of the element carrying path A. Further, in FIG. 1, the element carrying means 20 is simplified and shown by a virtual line (two-dot chain line). However, the element carrying means 20 divides the plurality of display elements 1 carried by the element carrying means into The terminal arrangement portion 2a is opposed to the cleaning tape 23, and the terminal forming surface of the terminal arrangement portion 2a is held upward at a constant interval, and these display elements 1 are continuously conveyed at a constant speed.
[0051]
On the other hand, the cleaning tape 23 is started to be fed by the tape feeding means 24 immediately before the display element 1 conveyed in the element conveying path reaches the cleaning position of the terminal arrangement section 2a. The feed is intermittently driven at the timing of stopping the feed after passing through the washing position.
[0052]
Further, the first and second cleaning liquid supply means 26 and 31 composed of the cleaning liquid injection nozzles 26 and 38 continuously spray the cleaning liquid during the feeding time of the cleaning tape 23, and the cleaning liquid is applied to the cleaning tape 23. 23.
[0053]
Further, before the cleaning of the terminal array portion 2a of the display element 1, the tape pressing plates 39 and 45, which are the first and second tape pressing means 27 and 32, respectively, are moved by a tape contact / separation mechanism (not shown) as shown in FIG. And the guide rollers 35, 36 and 42, 43 on the upstream and downstream sides of the first and second tape guide means 25, 30, respectively. The cleaning tape 23 guided in a direction parallel to the length direction of the terminal arrangement portion 2a is connected to the terminal forming surface and the outer surface of the terminal arrangement portion 2a of the display element 1 as shown in FIGS. It is supported so as to be pressed with an appropriate contact pressure.
[0054]
Therefore, the display element 1 transported to the cleaning position of the terminal arrangement section 2a through the element transport path is impregnated with the cleaning liquid, and the tape holding plates 39 and 45 are used to appropriately fit the terminal forming surface and the outer surface of the terminal arrangement section 2a. The terminal forming surface and the outer surface of the terminal array portion 2a are supported by the cleaning tape 23 which is fed and driven in a direction parallel to the length direction of the terminal array portion 2a while being supported so as to be pressed by a moderate contact pressure. Is wiped and washed.
[0055]
4A shows a state immediately before the terminal array 2a of the display element 1 enters the cleaning position, and FIGS. 4B and 4C show a state where the terminal array 2a is passing through the cleaning position. (D) shows a state in which the terminal arrangement section 2a has passed the cleaning position.
[0056]
The wiping and cleaning of the terminal forming surface of the terminal array portion 2a of the display element 1 is performed by an unused cleaning tape 23 which is fed from a feed reel 21 and impregnated with a cleaning liquid by a first cleaning liquid supply means 26.
[0057]
That is, as shown in FIG. 4, the terminal formation surface (the upper surface in the figure) of the terminal arrangement portion 2 a of the display element 1 is impregnated with a cleaning liquid, and the tape holding plate 39 appropriately covers the terminal formation surface of the terminal arrangement portion 2 a. The display element 1 is wiped and cleaned by a cleaning tape 23 which is fed and driven in a direction opposite to the conveying direction of the display element 1 in a state where the display element 1 is pressed with a moderate contact pressure.
[0058]
In the wiping and cleaning of the terminal forming surface of the terminal array portion 2a, the cleaning tape 23 pressed against the terminal forming surface is an unused tape, and the feed direction of the cleaning tape 23 is the transport direction of the display element 1. Therefore, the entire surface of the terminal forming surface can be wiped by the unused surface of the cleaning tape 23.
[0059]
Further, since the cleaning tape 23 is pressed against the terminal forming surface only at a portion supported from behind by the tape pressing plate 39, the foreign matter adhered to the cleaning tape 23 by being wiped from the terminal forming surface. a does not adhere again to the terminal formation surface of the terminal arrangement portion 2a, and therefore, the terminal formation surface of the terminal arrangement portion 2a can be wiped and cleaned well.
[0060]
In the wiping of the outer surface of the terminal array portion 2a of the display element 1, after the wiping of the terminal forming surface of the terminal array portion 2a, a twist is applied by the tape twisting means 28 to reverse the direction of one and the other surfaces. Then, the cleaning is performed by the used cleaning tape 23 which has been folded back by the tape folding means 29 and re-impregnated with the cleaning liquid by the second cleaning liquid supply means 31.
[0061]
In the wiping and cleaning of the outer surface of the terminal array portion 2a, the cleaning tape 23 pressed against the terminal forming surface is a used tape used for wiping and cleaning the terminal forming surface of the terminal array portion 2a. Since the foreign substance a wiped from the formation surface is attached to one surface of the cleaning tape 23, that is, the surface pressed against the terminal forming surface, the other surface of the cleaning tape 23 is It is in an unused state as shown in FIG.
[0062]
In the wiping and cleaning of the outer surface of the terminal array portion 2a, the cleaning tape 23 is fed in the same direction as the transport direction of the display element 1. Since the sheet 24 is fed and driven at a speed higher than the transport speed of the display element 1, the entire outer surface of the terminal array portion 2 a can be wiped by the unused surface of the cleaning tape 23.
[0063]
In the wiping and cleaning of the outer surface of the terminal array portion 2a, the cleaning tape 23 is pressed against the outer surface of the terminal array portion 2a only at a portion supported from behind by the tape pressing plate 45. The foreign substance b that has been wiped off from the outer surface of the terminal array portion 2a and adhered to the cleaning tape 23 does not adhere again to the outer surface of the terminal array portion 2a. Therefore, the outer surface of the terminal array portion 2a is also favorably wiped and cleaned. can do.
[0064]
The cleaning tape 23 whose outer surface has been wiped and cleaned is wound on a take-up reel 22.
[0065]
As described above, the cleaning device wipes and cleans both surfaces of the terminal array portion 2a of the display element 1 using the same cleaning tape 23, and cleans the cleaning tape 23 fed from the feeding reel 21 to the first. The cleaning position of the terminal arrangement portion 2a is guided by the tape guide means 25 to the terminal forming surface side of the terminal arrangement portion 2a of the display element 1 to be conveyed, and the cleaning tape 23 is impregnated with the cleaning liquid by the first cleaning liquid supply means 26. Then, the cleaning tape 23 is pressed against the terminal formation surface of the terminal arrangement portion 2a of the display element 1 by the first tape pressing means 27 to wipe off the terminal formation surface of the terminal arrangement portion 2a, and then the cleaning tape is used. The tape 23 is twisted by the tape twisting means 28 to reverse the direction of one side and the other side, and is folded by the tape folding means 29 in the direction of the washing position. Then, the cleaning tape 23 is guided back to the outer surface side of the terminal arrangement portion 2a of the display element 1 by the second tape guide means 30, and the cleaning liquid is again impregnated with the cleaning liquid by the second cleaning liquid supply means 31, and the cleaning liquid is re-impregnated. The cleaning tape 23 thus pressed is pressed against the outer surface of the terminal array 2a of the display element 1 by the second tape pressing means 32 to wipe off the outer surface of the terminal array 2a.
[0066]
Since this cleaning device wipes and cleans both surfaces of the terminal array portion 2a of the display element 1 using the same cleaning tape 23, only one reel 21 and one take-up reel 22 of the cleaning tape 23 are provided. Also, one cleaning tape 23 may be used.
[0067]
Therefore, according to this cleaning device, the configuration is greatly simplified as compared with the conventional cleaning device shown in FIGS. 6 to 8, and both surfaces of the terminal array portion 2a of the display element 1 are wiped and cleaned at low running cost. be able to.
[0068]
Further, in the conventional cleaning apparatus shown in FIGS. 6 to 8, the feed direction of the cleaning tape 13 of the first and second two cleaning systems 10 a and 10 b is a direction orthogonal to the transport direction of the display element 1. Therefore, in order to prevent the side surface of the terminal array portion 2a of the transported display element 1 from colliding with the side surface of the cleaning tape 13 folded back by the tape pressing plate 16, the terminal array portion 2a cannot be cleaned. Waiting for one end of 2a to enter the cleaning position facing the tape pressing plate 16, the folded portion of the cleaning tape 13 must be pressed against the terminal forming surface and the outer surface of the terminal array portion 2a, For this reason, the terminal forming surface and one end of the outer surface of the terminal arrangement portion 2a are not reliably wiped and cleaned, and foreign matter may remain in that portion.
[0069]
On the other hand, the cleaning device of the above embodiment uses the cleaning tape 23 having a width larger than the overhang width of the terminal array portion 2a of the display element 1, and uses the first and second tape guide means 25, 30. Are disposed on the upstream side and the downstream side in the feed direction of the cleaning tape 23 with the cleaning position of the terminal arrangement section 2a interposed therebetween, and the cleaning tape 23 is disposed in the length direction of the terminal arrangement section 2a of the display element 1. And two guide rollers 35, 36 and 42, 43 for guiding in a direction parallel to the first direction, and the first and second tape pressing means 27, 32 are guided by the tape guiding means 25, 30, respectively. Since the cleaning tape 23 is constituted by the tape pressing plates 39 and 45 for pressing the cleaning tape 23 from behind to the terminal arrangement portion 2a of the display element 1, the terminal arrangement of the display element 1 is provided. 2a-sided, respectively, can be reliably wiped cleaned over its entire area.
[0070]
Further, in the conventional cleaning device, the cleaning tape 13 fed in a direction orthogonal to the transport direction of the display element 1 is folded back by the tape pressing plate 16, and the folded portion is connected to the terminal of the terminal arrangement section 2 a of the display element 1. Since the pressing surface is pressed against the forming surface and the outer surface, the outer peripheral surface of the bent portion corresponding to the corner of the tape pressing plate 16 of the cleaning tape 13 becomes a curved surface as shown in FIG. A cleaning tape 13 for wiping and cleaning the terminal formation surface of the terminal arrangement portion 2a is provided at a corner (the outer surface of the frame-shaped sealing material 4) between the terminal formation surface of the terminal arrangement portion 2a and the end surface of the other substrate 3. Foreign matter may remain at the corners without contact, which may cause a short circuit between a plurality of wirings or terminals formed on the terminal forming surface.
[0071]
On the other hand, in the cleaning device of the above embodiment, the cleaning tape 23 is guided by the guide rollers 35, 36 and 42, 43 in a direction parallel to the length direction of the terminal arrangement portion 2a of the display element 1. Of the tape pressing plates 39, 45 constituting the first and second tape pressing means 27, 32, the tape pressing plate 39 for pressing the cleaning tape 23 against the terminal forming surface of the terminal array portion 2a of the display element 1 The position of the tape edge on the protruding end side of the terminal array portion 2a of the cleaning tape 23 is regulated, and the tape edge on the opposite side of the cleaning tape 23 is connected to the terminal forming surface of the terminal array portion 2a and the other substrate 3 Since the tape guide portion 39a for pressing the corner portion between the end portion and the end portion is provided, the corner portion can also be wiped and cleaned without fail.
[0072]
Further, in the above embodiment, the tape holding plate 45 for pressing the cleaning tape 23 against the outer surface of the terminal array portion 2a of the display element 1 is also provided with the tape edge of the overhanging end side of the terminal array portion 2a of the cleaning tape 23. Since the tape guide portion 45a for regulating the position is provided, the outer surface of the terminal array portion 2a can be wiped and cleaned with the same width as the wiping width of the terminal forming surface.
[0073]
In the above embodiment, the terminal forming surface of the terminal array portion 2a of the display element 1 is wiped and cleaned with the cleaning tape 23 sent in the direction opposite to the transport direction of the display element 1, and the directions of one and the other surfaces are changed. The outer surface of the terminal array portion 2a is wiped and cleaned by the cleaning tape 23 which is turned upside down and sent in the same direction as the transport direction of the display element 1. However, the transport direction of the display element 1 is the same as in the above embodiment. Conversely, the terminal forming surface of the terminal array portion 2a of the display element 1 is wiped and cleaned with the cleaning tape 23 sent in the same direction as the transport direction of the display element 1, and is sent in the direction opposite to the transport direction of the display element 1. The outer surface of the terminal array portion 2a may be wiped and cleaned with a cleaning tape 23.
[0074]
In the above embodiment, the cleaning tape 23 is fed at a speed higher than the transport speed of the display element 1. However, the transport speed of the cleaning tape 23 must be the same as the transport speed of the display element 1. For example, the transport speed of the display element 1 may be slower.
[0075]
Further, the terminal array portion 2a may be wiped and cleaned by moving only one of the display element 1 and the cleaning tape 23 which are the objects to be cleaned.
[0076]
That is, the terminal array portion 2a is wiped and cleaned, for example, by stopping the feeding of the cleaning tape 23 when its unused surface comes to the cleaning position and carrying only the display element 1 in that state. After the displayed display element 1 is carried out of the cleaning position, the cleaning tape 23 is fed and driven until the unused surface thereof comes to the cleaning position, and the terminal array 2a of the next display element 1 is wiped and cleaned. Good.
[0077]
In this way, when the feeding of the cleaning tape 23 is stopped and only the display element 1 is conveyed and the terminal array portion 2a is wiped and cleaned, both surfaces of the terminal array portion 2a are respectively the same as those of the cleaning tape 23. However, the amount of foreign substances a and b adhering to the cleaning tape 23 during cleaning of the terminal array portion 2a of one display element 1 is extremely small. The adhered foreign substances a and b do not re-adhere to the terminal arrangement portion 2a, and therefore both surfaces of the terminal arrangement portion 2a can be sufficiently and thoroughly cleaned over the entire area.
[0078]
The wiping of the terminal array portion 2a is performed by stopping the display element 1 conveyed by the element conveying means 20 at the cleaning position and feeding and driving only the cleaning tape 23 in that state. The display element 1 having the terminal array 2a cleaned may be carried out from the cleaning position.
[0079]
