DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
How to color a ceramic surface
The present invention is a novel method of coloring a ceramic surface using an aqueous solution of a gold compound.
is there.
The production of rosy shades in the ceramics industry has proven to be quite problematic.
ing. Manufactured by co-firing different types of metal oxides, and
It is common to produce pigments that are applied to ceramic surfaces with boric acid as a co-agent.
is there.
For example, in the specification of East German Patent No. 224026, almost 2CaCOThree× SnOTwo
× 2SiOTwo× HThreeBOThreeWith a composition of CrTwoOThreeFrom 0.1 to 1.5
% Pink pigments are described.
The disadvantage of this pigment powder is that it must be added to all ceramic materials.
This makes it impossible to pattern, or the powder pigment is thin on the ceramic surface.
Arranged only as a layer, this changes the ceramic surface and therefore
That is, these processes are no longer possible.
In addition, tin oxide-stabilized colloidal gold is deep crimson to purplish red
It is known to produce colors up to (Cassius's purple gold). Glass or ename
The addition of this purple gold to gold
Produces colored glass (gold ruby glass) and enamel (S. Stephanov et a
l. Keramikglasuren Wiesbaden / Berlin 1988, 127).
Further, a gold sulfo resinate suspended in an organic solvent is applied to the ceramic surface,
Firing at 0-800 ° C. yields a thin film of metallic gold with typical gold luster
It is known (see DE-A-4122131).
According to DE 432,072, as monohydrate and trihydrate
Commercially available, such as gold salts, especially gold (III) chloride or tetrachloroauric acid
Apply the diluted aqueous solution of gold chloride to a table of ceramic compacts such as tiles or porcelain.
Can be used to color surfaces. The ceramic whose surface is colored in this way
By firing the green compact, the color from rose to blue in a very simple way
Get.
Disadvantages of this method are that the gold salt solution used can be stored under normal storage and processing conditions.
Not stable, especially metal surfaces and reducing impurities or additives in equipment used
Reacts with the formation of amorphous gold, which precipitates as a mud
.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to subsequently penetrate the color into the surface layer of the ceramic material.
Which is colored at a depth of about 0.5 to 2 mm, and is therefore
Colorable ceramic moldings, especially
The aim is to find a new way to color it. This method is stable,
Non-toxic gold compounds should be used.
The object is achieved by the features of claim 1 and by claims 2 et seq.
Helped.
According to the method described in the means for solving the problem, the ceramic surface is coated with a gold concentration of 0.1 to 10 times.
Alkali metal or ammonium dithiosulfatoaurate (I)
Treated with an aqueous solution, the water is evaporated and the dithiosulphate is
It is characterized in that it decomposes the quatrate (I) salt.
For the process according to the invention, dithiosulfates having a gold concentration of 0.5 to 5.0% by weight
Gold (I) salt solutions are advantageous.
Alkali metal or ammonium dithiosulfatoaurate (I) (multiples below)
Decomposition of thiosulfatoaurate in many cases is carried out at 800-1200 ° C., in particular
When carried out at 1140 ° C., the process according to the invention has proven to be particularly advantageous.
In the method of the present invention, an aqueous solution of thiosulfatoaurate is sprayed by a general method.
Can be applied to the ceramic body to be colored by immersion, painting, printing, etc.
it can.
After drying, the ceramic compact is placed in a suitable oven at 300-1400 ° C, preferably about 8 ° C.
Decide between 00 and 1200 ° C
Calcined at an elevated temperature, and especially at 1140 ° C. to produce a rosy coloration,
The firing time is about 30 minutes to 5 hours, preferably 1 hour to 2 hours. By firing
Thiosulfatoaurate is thermally decomposed to form the finely dispersed form of elemental gold.
You. The size and distribution of the gold particles is crucial to the color impression, which depends on the firing temperature and
And baking time. The color obtained at a temperature of about 300-400 ° C is blue
Yes, turns purple at temperatures between 400 and 1000 ° C, pure at temperatures above 1000 ° C
A stylish rose color is obtained. The gold concentration of the thiosulfatoaurate solution is important,
This is because if the amount of gold is lower than about 0.1% by weight, the color impression is faded, and the gold
Above%, the color impression is brownish typical of amorphous dispersed gold of metal after firing
This is because the color changes. Therefore, in the thiosulfatoaurate solution, especially gold 0.3 to
A range of 5% by weight is advantageous.
Surprisingly, alkali metal and ammonium thiosulfatoaurate (I) complexes
The body can be pyrolyzed under the same conditions as gold (III) chloride. This is like metal iron
It is more stable than the reducing agent and is therefore a device, frame, shell,
Can be used.
The color impression obtained after firing is objectively La*b*It can be expressed using a system.
In this system, L represents lightness and a*And b*Represents hue and saturation. This

Solution III
Solution III is water 6.0 as gold and sodium dithiosulfatoaurate (I) 6.0.
g / l, sodium sulfite 40.0 g / l and ammonium hydroxide up to a pH value of 11.4
It is a preparation made of monium.
Solution III has a gold concentration of 0.6% by weight.

Table 1 below shows two different compositions of thiosulfatoaurate solutions, Solution I and
And II were sprayed and baked at three different final temperatures for 60 minutes.
The results are shown (tile surface 1 cmTwoWas coated with 0.06 g of thiosulfatoaurate solution.
T). Bring to final temperatures 800 ° C and 1140 ° C to reduce thermal stress
Preliminary firing was performed at 600 ° C. for 760 minutes, and firing was performed at 400 ° C. for a total of 300 minutes. color

Time 1 = 360 minutes, Time 2 = 60 minutes
Experiment 3 T1 = 600 ° C, T2 = 1140 ° C
Time 1 = 600 ° C, Time 2 = 60 minutes In addition, color measurements were performed on large tiles of type 2 (firing temperature 1140 ° C)
. In this case, a color difference in the blank test that affects the hue of the colored tile is confirmed. Ta
The tile of type 2 showed a ground color of medium brightness.
Surprisingly, the properties of ceramic compacts have little effect on color.
Tiles and porcelain bodies are similar under the same application and firing conditions.
They are colored in the same way. However, as shown in Table 2,
The ground color of the substrate is added to the color tone.
The colored ceramic layer has a thickness of approximately 0.5-2 mm, especially approximately 1 mm,
Therefore, the unevenness of the substrate is polished and removed without affecting the color impression (about 0.3 to
0.5 mm), it is possible to polish the surface. Especially for hard fired tiles
Can produce a highly polished product that is very stable even when stepped on.
For example, flooring with a marble effect can be manufactured using the corresponding printing technology.
In this case, the floor tiles produced in this case are superior to natural marble due to their strength.
On the other hand, it can be manufactured at a significantly lower cost.
Thiosulfa additionally containing further stabilizers, especially sulfites or thiosulfates.
Touate solutions have proven to be particularly convenient to use.
In this case, sodium sulfite and the molar ratio of gold to sulfite in the solution (0.1 to 0.1)
