Description
Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.電力増幅器であって: 1/4波長移相したロー・レベルの入力信号を増幅すべく構成された第1搬送 増幅器; 前記第1搬送増幅器の出力に結合された第1の1/4波長伝送ライン; 前記1/4波長移相したミディアム・レベルの入力信号を増幅すべく構成され た第2搬送増幅器; 前記第2搬送増幅器の出力に結合された第2の1/4波長伝送ライン; 1/2波長移相したハイ・レベルの入力信号を増幅すべく構成されたピーク増 幅器;および 前記第1および第2の1/4波長伝送ラインならびに前記ピーク増幅器からの 出力信号を合成して同相な信号を生成する合成器; によって構成されることを特徴とする電力増幅器。 2.前記ロー・レベルの入力信号から第1搬送増幅器出力信号を生成するよう に前記第1搬送増幅器を構成する第1バイアス手段; 前記ミディアム・レベルの入力信号から第2搬送増幅器出力信号を生成するよ うに前記第2搬送増幅器を構成する第2バイアス手段;および 前記ハイ・レベルの入力信号からピーク増幅器出力信号 を生成するように前記ピーク増幅器を構成するピーク・バイアス手段; をさらに含んで構成されることを特徴とする請求項1記載の電力増幅器。 3.前記第1搬送増幅器,前記第2搬送増幅器および前記ピーク増幅器への3 つの個別の分配経路に入力信号を分配する電力ディバイダをさらに含んで構成さ れることを特徴とする請求項1記載の電力増幅器。 4.前記第1搬送増幅器,前記第2搬送増幅器および前記ピーク増幅器の出力 と前記合成器との間に結合された出力インピーダンス整合手段であって、前記第 1搬送増幅器出力信号,前記第2搬送増輻器出力信号および前記ピーク増幅器出 力信号のインピーダンスを整合する出力インピーダンス整合手段をさらに含んで 構成されることを特徴とする請求項1記載の電力増幅器。 5.ロー・レベル,ミディアム・レベルおよびハイ・レベルの電力を有する信 号を増幅する方法であって: 前記ロー・レベルの電力を有する前記信号を1/4波長だけ移相して、第1搬 送増幅器入力信号を生成する段階; 第1搬送増幅器において前記第1搬送増幅器入力信号を増幅して、第1搬送増 幅器出力信号を生成する段階; 前記ミディアム・レベルの電力を有する前記信号を1/4波長だけ移相して、 第2搬送増幅器入力信号を生成する段階; 第2搬送増幅器において前記第2搬送増幅器入力信号を増幅して、第2搬送増 幅器出力信号を生成する段階; 前記ハイ・レベルの電力を有する前記信号を1/2波長だけ移相して、ピーク 増幅器入力信号を生成する段階; ピーク増幅器において前記ピーク増輻器入力信号を増幅して、ピーク増幅器出 力信号を生成する段階; 前記第1搬送増幅器出力信号および前記第2搬送増幅器出力信号を1/4波長 だけ移相して、移相した第1搬送増幅器出力信号および移相した第2搬送増幅器 出力信号を生成する段階;および 前記移相した第1および第2搬送増幅器出力信号と、前記ピーク増幅器出力信 号とを合成して、出力信号を生成する段階; によって構成されることを特徴とする方法。 6.前記第1搬送増幅器をバイアスして、前記ロー・レベル用の前記第1搬送 増幅器出力信号を生成する段階; 前記第2搬送増幅器をバイアスして、前記ミディアム・レベル用の前記第2搬 送増幅器出力信号を生成する段階;および 前記ピーク増幅器をバイアスして、前記ハイ・レベル用の前記ピーク増幅器出 力信号を生成する段階; をさらに含んで構成されることを特徴とする請求項5記載の方法。 7.前期第1搬送増幅器が飽和した後に、前記第2搬送 増幅器入力信号を増幅する段階;および 前期第2搬送増幅器が飽和した後に、前記ピーク増幅器入力信号を増幅する段 階; をさらに含んで構成されることを特徴とする請求項6記載の方法。 8.前記第1搬送増幅器,前記第2搬送増幅器および前記ピーク増幅器への3 つの個別の分配経路に前記信号を電力分割する段階をさらに含んで構成されるこ とを特徴とする請求項7記載の方法。 9.前記第1搬送増幅器,前記第2搬送増幅器および前記ピーク増幅器につい て所定の出力インピーダンス整合を生成する段階をさらに含んで構成されること を特徴とする請求項5記載の方法。 10.前記ピーク増幅器入力信号を増幅する前記段階は、前記ピーク増幅器出 力信号を増大するために第2ピーク増幅器を設ける段階をさらに含んで構成され ることを特徴とする請求項5記載の方法。
