Un veicolo (1,2) per il trasporto di merci (8), in particolare un carro ferroviario (1), presenta un pianale (3) da cui si rialzano delle pareti (4, 5) definenti almeno un vano di carico (6, 6A..... 6D), detto veicolo (1, 2) presentando su almeno due pareti contrapposte (5, 10) del vano di carico (6, 6A .... 6D) almeno una coppia di guide (12) per lo scorrimento di mezzi di sostegno (8) di merci (7) presentanti elementi (13) atti a cooperare con tali guide (12), detto scorrimento essendo trasversale rispetto l'usuale asse longitudinale (A) del veicolo (1, 2) e consentendo il caricamento laterale delle merci (8) su tale veicolo (1, 2), detta operazione potendo avvenire vantaggiosamente in modo automatico.
