Un carro ferroviario (1) comprende un vano di carico (3) delimitato da pareti laterali (4, 5) e da un cielo (6) a cui le pareti (4, 5) si collegano, su queste ultime essendo previste guide (7) disposte longitudinalmente nel vano di carico (3) suddetto atte a sopportare un planale (10) su cui sono poste delle merci. Il pianale (10) comprende almeno due porzioni vincolate tra loro, ma mobili relativamente l'una rispetto all'altra, tali porzioni (11) presentando lati contrapposti (14) di maggiore estensione a cui sono associati organi di scorrimento (15) atti a cooperare con le guide (7) previste longitudinalmente nel vano di carico (3), ognuna delle suddette porzioni (11) presentando inoltre almeno un lato (16) di ridotta estensione vincolato al lato (16) corrispondente della porzione (11) adiacente.
