Il piano di giacitura (1) comprende uno o più strati (3) sovrapposti, ciascuno strato essendo ampio circa quanto la superficie del letto e di spessore uniforme ma cedevole elasticamente sotto il peso della persona; detto o almeno uno di detti strati (3) è attraversato da aperture trasversali (5) ad andamento rettilineo e distanziate fra loro nella direzione della lunghezza del piano di giacitura; in alcune almeno di tali aperture sono inseriti elementi (7) di lunghezza pari e sezione simile a quella delle aperture (5); detti elementi (7) sono da scegliere fra tipi che per il materiale di costituzione e la conformazione presentano rigidezze differenti alla flessone nel piano perpendicolare a quello di giacitura.
