Abstract

The winding insulation for electrical machines has the shape of a sleeve with an S-shaped cross-section for the sides of the windings being inserted into the slots. The slot and overhang insulation form part of the same sleeve (1) with an S-shaped cross-section, which also has a transverse slot (2) at the transistion between slot insulation (4) and winding overhang insulation (5). This slot allows the overhang insulation part of the S-shaped sleeve to be opened out flat (6) where the winding bars diverge as they leave their shared slot, one half of the S remaining wrapped around one bar.
