Abstract

A manufacturing process is used in the winding of bars for electric machines. It is an economical process which avoids the taping of bars after insertion into the slots of the machine. The process begins by inserting the bars into the slots of the magnetic core of a machine. A slot wedge is then fitted over the bars. The bars are then interconnected. Before insertion into slots, the bars are covered by a dry and absorbing tape over the whole length. After insertion into slots, the bars are formed to constitute the winding overhang. Spacers are inserted between the bars in the overhang. The winding is then finally impregnated.
