Abstract

1292505 Making silage N E KAUSE 14 Oct 1970 [16 Oct 1969] 48751/70 Heading A1F A stream of cut green fodder flowing upwardly through a duct 15 in a harvester deflects a vane 1 towards its direction of flow thereby opening a valve to deliver preserving fluid into the fodder via a nozzle unit 8. The vane 1 is mounted on an L-shaped arm 2 which is pivoted to a link 5 having an eye 6 through which the preserving fluid delivery tube 7 passes. When the flow of fodder stops the vane 1 settles to one side under the influence of gravity thus turning lever 9 to lift link 5 and cut off the fluid supply to nozzle unit 8 by throttling tube 7 against bracket 4. Nozzle unit 8 which may be of plastics has five nozzles to which flexible tube 7 may be attached, each nozzle having an upturned aperture of a different size. [GB1292505A]
