Abstract

Novel compounds I (including salts with bases and hydrates thereof) wherein m is 2 or 3, R 1 is H or Me and R 2 is H, C 1 to C 6 alkyl or phenyl optionally mono- or disubstituted by halogen, C 1 to C 4 alkyl or C 1 to C 4 alkoxy, or is trifluoromethylphenyl, are obtained by standard methods for sulphonyl-ureas. Octahydro-1,2,4-methenopentalen-5-amine is ob tained by reacting the corresponding 5-isocyanate with glacial acetic acid and acetic anhydride or with an alkanol and hydrolysing the product so obtained; the isocyanate is prepared by treating the corresponding 5-acid hydrazide (prepared by interaction of hydrazine hydrate and the corresponding 5-carboxylic acid-#-ethoxyethyl ester which, in turn is obtained by interaction of acrylic acid-#-ethoxyethyl ester stabilized with hydroquinone monomethyl ether, and 2,5- norbornadiene in the presence of nickel-tricarbonyl triphenylphosphine) with sodium nitrite in the presence of concentrated hydrochloric acid. Pharmaceutical preparations showing hypoglycemic action contain I as active ingredient; administration may be orally or parenterally. [GB1258594A]
