Abstract

A composition suitable for cleansing synthetic fibrous materials comprises a polyethenoxylated wool fat distributed in a liquid medium containing a major proportion by weight of an aliphatic alcohol containing 1-4 carbon atoms and a minor proportion by weight of water. The polyethenoxylated wool fat may be prepared by adding 50-150 parts by weight of ethylene oxide to 100 parts by weight of wool fat. The cleansing composition may also contain a minor proportion by weight of an electrolyte, e.g. sodium sulphate, and an additive promoting wetting and emulsification, e.g. triethanolamine.ALSO:Synthetic fibrous materials, e.g. "Nylon, Perlon, Diolen, Rilsan, Dralon and Terylene" (Registered Trade Marks or Trade Names), are cleansed by treating them with a cleansing agent comprising a polyethenoxylated wool fat distributed in a liquid medium containing a major proportion by weight of an aliphatic alcohol containing 1-4 carbon atoms and a minor proportion by weight of water and then rinsing. The polyethenoxylated wool fat may be prepared by adding 50-150 parts by weight of ethylene oxide to 100 parts by weight of wool fat. The cleansing agent may also contain a minor proportion by weight of an electrolyte, e.g. sodium sulphate, and an additive promoting wetting and emulsification, e.g. triethanolamine. After rinsing the synthetic fibrous materials may be soaped with readily soluble grained soap flakes or needles and rinsed. The cleansing of lace, curtains and net is referred to.
