Abstract

A liquid composition for use in cleaning, shampooing and moth-proofing carpets and upholstery containing in admixture one or more detergent substances chosen from detergent sulphonates and detergent sulphates, one or more foam stabilizing compounds and one or more moth-proofing agents. The "foam stabilizing compounds" are defined as compounds other than a detergent sulphonate or sulphate which have the property of stabilizing, that is increasing the length of life, of the foam produced by the particular detergent substance or substances chosen. The example given describes a composition containing as detergent substances, sodium dodecyl benzene sulphonate, ammonium lauryl sulphate and built ammonium triethanolamine lauryl sulphate; as foam stabilizers, lauric monoisopropanolamide and a fatty acid in the built ammonium tri-ethanolamine lauryl sulphate; and Dieldrin as a moth-proofing agent. The composition may be a one-phase system and other constituents specified are water, formaldehyde and an organic solvent for the moth-proofing agent.ALSO:A liquid composition for moth proofing carpets and upholstery contains one or more detergent substances chosen from detergent sulphonates and detergent sulphates, one or more foam stabilizing compounds and one or more moth-proofing agents, e.g. Dieldrin. The "foam stabilizing compounds" are defined as compounds other than a detergent sulphonate or sulphate which have the property of stabilizing, that is increasing the length of life, of the foam produced by the particular detergent substance or substances chosen.
