A building panel comprises a facing sheet 10, e.g. metal, glass, asbestos, synthetic resin, metal bonded to synthetic resin or plywood, having adhesively attached to it a layer 11 of heat-, sound- or fire-insulating material, e.g. foamed polystyrene, foamed polyurethane or foamed phenol-formaldehyde resin, asbestos, plaster board, fibre board or chip or particle board, the layer 11 being inset in relation to the sheet 10 and the projecting surface of the latter and the side faces of the layer 11 having a waterproof covering 14, e.g. of polythene, which extends over the peripheral parts of the front and back surfaces of the panel and is applied by painting or spraying or as mitred and otherwise shaped strips. A sheet such as sheet 10 may be applied to the back of layer 11.
