[Also in Division H1] A hollow cored cable is formed by drawing strands 17 interspaced with relatively soft strands 18 through a die to form a keyed or nested layer of strands 11. A plurality of additional layers of strands 13,14 and 16, that need not be nested or keyed in the manner of the strands 11, are subsequently added. The strands 17 may be of steel or rigid plastic and the soft strands 18 may be of aluminium, copper, low molecular weight polyolefins, or like soft materials.
